My favorite card in MTG is "Pestilence." Then one day I discovered "Pyrohemia," and thought, this card looks a lot like Pestilence. So, I decided that I would make a modern deck with Pyrohemia because Pestilence was not printed for Modern play. Some of the ideas are transferred from such decks as; Valakut, Scapeshift, Naya. The compilation of all the cards seems to be a tight fit - hopefully I will be able to sideboard more easily - as I get to know this new deck!
I have played decks with similar lines as this one. Fortunately there is more depth with this deck because of the added third color. I am used to using Gruul. The added splash of white compliments the feature card of "Pyrohemia". What you do with the deck is try to ramp. At first you can see that a 5-drop will be able to be played on turn 3. More often than not the turn 3 play will be "Through the Breach". Because of Valakut you could win as early as turn 3 sending "Primeval Titan" through. Emrakul the mighty Eldrazi seems to be a good target as well. If you get overrun by creatures hopefully you can stabilize with "Pyrohemia". The purpose of "Kor Firewalker" and "Burrenton Forge-Tender" is mainly due to their protection from red! As they will not die to "Pyrohemia". Have fun and play safe!
