Deck Description

A Jund Aggro deck based around Varolz, the Scar-Striped.
His abilities are super powerful and easy to manipulate. Giving all creatures in your grave Scavenge that costs equal to their mana costs is extremely strong with cards like Spike Jester and Vexing Devil. 1 red for 4 counters seems good. Especially since just before then, they probably took 4 damage for the Devil coming in.

Our sideboard has a few options. Duress helps out against midrange and control decks, Deathrite Shaman helps against ANY other graveyard strategies, the sideboard has a strong bit against control with Ruric Thar and Sire of Insanity, and it has some extra removal with Pillar of Flame for other aggressive decks.

Deck discussion for Scavenging Standard

I would probably drop clan defiance in the SB and replace it with Thundermaw, or one of the other creatures. Also, Slaughter Games would be a nice addition to the SB as well.

Thundermaw as a bomb in the mainboard is a great idea, thank you. I completely spaced him as a creature.

Yeah, a friend of mine runs mono red and Thundermaw shows up midgame and wins it for him pretty much everytime. He's an amazing creature.

I decided that it was very inconsistent with Slumbering Dragon, Treacherous Pit-Dweller, and such. I replaced them with Diregraf Ghouls and Gravecrawlers which seem to be doing better along with still being value creatures for Varolz... Still needs something for late-game though.... Suggestions?

Very solid deck looks tough to play against. I suggest taking out lotleth troll and diregraf ghoul for splinterfright and boneyard wurm. They are great in the graveyard with varolz out if you have a bunch of creatures in your graveyard they scavenge for how many you have not for 0 as I originally thought they would. Plus they are big cheap creatures that can help late game as well. Splinterfrights second ability feeds your graveyard. If you would like you can check out my varolz idea and let me know what you think
