Well, this is an attempt to make a deck with pentarch paladin in it. I think relic of progenitus allows him to fit nicely into an exile deck. Thanks to NorthernWarlord for his constant inspiration. Even though he has not commented, his decks supplied me with many ideas and underrated budget cards.
Stall with removal and creatures until Pentarch Paladin is summoned. Your level creatures will grow into real pains.Use cloudchaser kestrel, distorting lens, and painter's servant to make all creature, lands, and spells white. And if everything is white ... circle of protection: white, angel feather, and those two cards in the sideboard (if you want them) are no longer situational, but very powerful.

I would have painter's servant in place of Distorting Lens, or Student of Warfare instead of Caravan escort, but they cost too much.

Well, I am going to use student of warfare.
I just substituted caravan escort for it here.
Okay, I broke down and used all 3.
The best thing about this deck is that it's cheap ... but is sure open to the inclusion of great cards like painter's servant, student of warfare, Stoneforge Mystic, etc.
My biggest piece of advice would be to swap distorting lens for painter's servant. As it enters the battlefield choose a color. All cards in all hands, graveyards, libraries and all cards in play are the chosen color.Just for fun you c could throw one of the circle of protection cards in here as well. Or something like that. :)
You are right, painter's servant is the best choice in terms of quality. In fact, if I could use him, I could use Northern Paladin instead (lower CMC, cooler art, etc.). Oh, and there's the HUGE advantage that lands have color, making them vulnerable. I really want painter's servant ... but this is on a budget. Heck, even if it was not, I would still pack distorting lens for flexibility. I would drop Cloudchaser Kestrel. You sir, are brilliant. Not only can circles of protection be used, but all manner of color specific spells. Thank you for the idea man!
This deck is awesome. It looks like a TON of fun to play with. I really like decks with lots of spot removal, and this deck does that really well. :)I am sorry if my post seemed... overly critical. I like seeing new (to me at least) decks and cards that I didn't know existed. as for the suggestions... I also like seeing how cards I know might improve other decks. which is why I am on here in the first place: to get help from people who probably know more cards than me. :)anyways, this deck looks way cool. :)
I didn't take your comments as overly critical at all. They are well-reasoned suggestions. Especially that circle of protection bit. That was really smart.I just wanted to make a deck where Pentarch could feel at home. I hate to see cards with "no use" (unless they have been replaced by newer versions - this applies to burn and counter especially).I always dislike it when innovative combos are shot down by the price of the cards they work well with. Doubling Season, e.j.I will slim this deck down soon. Thanks again for your help.
Fine, I broke down and added painter's servant.
LOL... I'm where would you get them? I need some for one of my decks... :)
Go to garage sales and dig through the boxes of players who are leaving for college =)
LOL... That would be nice. :). See if someone will sell them for cheap. :)
i like how you made angel's feather useful, mana curves really low, why not take out two plains and just add your sideboard?
Cost .... I really want those cards, but they ... You know what, grindstone is in.
Grindstone+ painter's servant= Insta-mill. And with in here... Easy removal as well. Too awesome. :)
I think I have thoroughly broken this deck concept. Thank you guys for your suggestions. The only think I can think of is adding Stoneforge Mystic to search for the artifacts.
story circle if you want a clone of circle of protection, but it would probably just be in the way
What I would like is something like flickering ward that is modern legal.
sadly stoneforge cannot search for those artifacts. it can only search for equipment artifacts. :(
Razzle frazzle! That's too bad.
indeed it is too bad. but you can still search with enlightened tutor, which can also get you your enchantments as well. :)
You gain some, you lose some. =).
so true... and I have been striking out lately with my new deck designs... :( I have a few concepts that I just CANNOT make work... :(
Well ... post the links here and I'll see if I can help.
yeah, ok. I will... :(This one I have mentioned a few times. The concept is sound, but I only have half of what it needs.http://www.mtgvault.com/kazzong/decks/living-nightmare/The other one I gave up on because it was a flawed concept, so I killed it.Thanks. :)
Ah, let's see what you have found.
Angel's Feather... What a nostalgia.
Circles of protection say hello too!
i must say, i really like the idea.
Why thank you good sir.
