The best Soulflayer in Standard is composed of:Chromanticore + Theros block God + Heir + Caryatid = Flying, First Strike, Deathtouch, Hexproof, Indestructible, Vigilance, Trample, LifelinkCan't be killed by anything in barely any format, except Crackling Doom (which is why Mardu decks are mean)But these individual targets make the card worthwhile too:ChromanticoreErebos, God of the DeadHeir of the WildsAnd keep in mind that it usually costs <= 1BBThe rest of the deck seeks to maximize Soulflayer while also letting you cast Chromanticore. Monastery Siege is taking a turn off but fixing the rest of the game, as well as the best discard outlet in Standard, and you can discard extra ones. A necessary evil.It seems I made this before and published slightly later than "Soulmanticore!", by ktrojan, which made the front page. Oh well. Still working on the sideboard.

I like it! I just wasn't going as much control and wanted to manipulate my library a little more. Thoughtsieze I don't own so I ussually just completely forget it honestly.

I chose Thoughtseize over Stubborn Denial as a way to try and alleviate removal because of how much I wanted to tap out later in the game, but I'm not loving it so far. And I really hate Hero's Downfall in this deck, so I'm trying to find a good replacement.
sudden reclamation...maybe drop our one murderous cut for another heros's. to keep delve high for soulflayer.
You know I experimented with that card. I'll think about Sudden Reclamation. But I do like to draw a Murderous Cut every game, and multiples cost a minimum of 4 since they fuel each other and most often cost 2 or less, so I won't replace those. Thanks for the comment!I actually think I found the replacement: A couple of Valorous Stance could be protection and semi-removal for 2 cmc
what are your thoughts on thassa over erebos? I had thassa in my build originally as a one of and loved the fact that i always got through with my chromanticore so i was jw.I guess lifegain is big in standard right now though too and it has a better chance of being a creature huh.
Oooh interesting idea. And the scry is good too. But did you really have trouble hitting with your flying trampler? Besides, you normally want to discard the god anyways. But you should put in the card that has the best utility effect. That's why I have Erebos to blank lifegain and draw cards with Pharika in the side to fight whip decks. Actually, for your build I'd consider putting in Xenagos, God of Revels. He makes Chromanticore even better and gives it the haste it's missing. Plus you might even make him a creature, especially if you put in the other two Flamewake Pheonixes.
wow i hadn't thought of that. Yeah stuped 3/5 sphinx that can get haste hosed me a few times. I'd gain life but not get in with damage. I like Xenagos though as it'd kick ferocious just off a courser even, allowing me to bring back the pheonix and allowing me to likely swing with Xenaos himself yes!

Yeah, I've seen some articles with people talking about the potential for this. I left you a comment.
