Deck Description

I obviously got the ideas from today's Dailymtg article, but zombies with Risen Executioner is just good healthy fun. However I wasn't really satisfied with the deck at the end, and thought it had some easy upgrades. I started with the idea of putting Dark Deal/Waste Not into it, and went from there.

The main two combos:

Dark Deal + Waste Not
Very powerful, but only if played on the second and third turn before they dump their hand. However, if you can assemble this then you most often win, since it draws you cards, creates mana and zombies, and allows you to chain together Dark Deals if you draw them. Plus you fill up your graveyard which makes you able to immediately cast the delve spells if you draw them.

Necromancer's Stockpile + Tymaret
This boils down to paying 4 mana to draw a card as many times as you want at instant speed. However I am uncertain that I have enough creatures to warrant Stockpile's inclusion outside of this combo.

Besides the free wins aspect, there are some awesome synergies with Waste Not in the deck, including Sibsig Icebreakers as an awesome way to play both strategies and Kolaghan's Command as extremely powerful instant speed discard.

I might not have all the numbers right, and the sideboard is at best a guess. But this deck looks awesome! Cheap too (outside of the Thoughtseizes).

Some of the card choices are not great here. That's because wizards didn't give zombies players a lot to work with in this standard (seriously, look at all these unplayables: http://magiccards.info/query?q=t%3A%22zombie%22+t%3A%22creature%22+f%
3Astandard&v=card&s=cname). No 1 drops besides Shambling Goblins and barely any recursion. I am very reliant on zombie tokens right now to make this playable... Virulent Plague will crush me. It's also basically a disaster that Bloodsoaked Champion isn't a zombie. I also still might play Sidisi, Undead Vizier or Rakshasa Gravecallers, but I often do not have the mana for a 5 drop.

Deck discussion for B/R Zombies are good??

Visiting from Draggro! I like the looks of it, BUT Virulent plague is a bit of a nonbo for the deck in general. if they get your Executioner out of play it'll gank your tokens. I might recommend some Self-inflicted wound in their place. It does well against the Dromoka match-up.

Possibly Corpse Weft for end of turn Zombie shenanigans. or Foul return on a Sidisi.

If you want to go the delve route, surprisingly enough, Grumag Angler might be good here . Something that has a little oomph, other than your deathtouch tutor.

Thanks for the nonbo tip. Wasn't thinking.

Not a fan of Corpse Weft, I already have too many slow enchantments, all of which are better.

Not sure about Gurmag Angler. He is quite playable, and was originally in the deck, but my arguments against him can be summed up as:

Cost is high (even with delve, I don't have Satyr Wayfinders)
Land count is low (maybe too low)
Largest non-recursive creature will immediately attract a removal spell

I will consider both of your suggestions though. Thanks for the comment.
