A -1/-1 deck for modern. Melira + Torment is fun. No need to worry about indestructible stuffs. Thoughts?Note: Although a few things are similar, this is not Melira Pod.

See: Melira Pod. Exact same idea.

I did throw a little Melira Pod flare in this deck. Melira is one of my favorite cards.
Birthing Pod is what gives the deck its consistency, and it is much more combo centric. There are several infinite life combos as well as infinite damage combos, and it has multiple ways to tutor up the pieces of the combo. It won the last 3 grand prix's. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
Meleria, Devoted Druid, Helix Pinnacle. Then base everything around support for that....
The base of the deck is Melira and Everlasting Torment. Then I threw in some Melira Pod flare with Viscera Seer and Murderous Redcap.
@Benny_boy777 It would be easier and faster, I think, to just do the devoted druid and quillspike combo. However this idea is brilliant in the fashion of giving that deck some more ideas to fill it out and have a second win con.
is wither the same as infect?
Similar.Infect has an alternate win-con type thing and generally didn't mix as well with creatures who didn't give poison counters to players, as the normal damage creatures would be, in essence, hitting a different player. Wither still deals combat damage to players, so generally it mixes better with non-infect creatures towards an archetype win-con of "damage". However, they do both deal damage to creatures as -1/-1's, and in that regard are the same.
tmw30 is correct. As a user of infect myself, I can attest to the fact that it does not mix well with non-infect spells.
I like decks like this that do subtle things to win games, and for that, you get a plus one.My only suggestion is to increase the Viscera Seer count by 1, as they aren't appearing as much as I would like them to. Maybe another MB redcap? They do their job well.
What would you suggest that I SB for them?
I suggest the Whip and 1 Anger, to be honest.
why so much variance in the land base? why Reaper of the Wilds? I mean, I get what the deck does, I just kind of dont see why you need one Fire Lit Thicket (ect) or Reaper....please detail.
Reaper is hard to deal with and it can kill just about anything and it lets me scry 1 when a creature dies. As for the land, I didn't want to get color screwed, but yeah, the thicket (etc) isn't needed.
gotcha.thanks.
I need to give you a game of modern! Skype me when you can! Toby, you're mate from the UK!
I haven't forgotten you. Glad to hear you are still alive. You disappeared from my fb.
Yes I had to delete it for my important exams :( You on skype?
Ah, yeah. I don't have this deck though.
IAh ok, message me on skyp anyway, I'm in a game now!!

have you considered Tarmegoyf
Everyone considers Tarmegoyf, checks their wallet and decides against it! Although it would be a sweet addition to this deck Justen!
Got any spare Tarmegoyfs that I can have Toby? :)
Ye I think I have 5 or 6 and I'll throw in a Jace the mind Sculptor for $10, that must be asking for rather a lot of cash though!
I'll take 3. So what do you think of the Jace vs Vraska Dual Decks?
Well it's a little like the Elspeth Vs Tezzeret, Jace is a high price right now and Vraska is pretty low, although it should be good, I want to see if they ally a colour with Jace!
