Deck discussion for Shadow of Elves

What?! New elf cards .... they look neat. And a transforming planeswalker? I think I am in love ...

Thanks. It's still a work in progress and it might end up being what I play in standard.

could you play this deck competitively? I have most of the cards and think it looks sick!

Kinda, a little bit of tweaking and it is probably teir 2. Which for FNM is generally fine.

I'm actually working on this for standard. My current list is doing well, but I'm missing dual lands and (the most expensive card in the deck) thoughtseize. You can check prices under the Deck Stats tab.

this looks awesome, I got nissa vastwood seer in a booster yesterday and have some of the cards in the main deck. may have to try out a combination of these cards with nissa. the elves work so well together it would be an amazing deck to play with.

Im playing the same actually i splashed red for Burn i never got alot of use out of nissa since the deck functions closer to aggro than it does midrange

Running Jund (R/G/B)?

For the most part, this is going to be a big part of standard meta when everything settles out, since this is a major archetype to pick at. Like I can see an abzan elf aggro shell coming. But this is decent. It needs cuts though maybe guilder, empath and trapper(some because of mystic still being in standard)

You should definitely should run eyeblight massacre. Card is stupid busted and is so synergistic with your shell. Maybe gather the pack too.

Eyeblight is in my actual deck list. Slowly improving it.

sry for the double post but I would love to face a elf aggro shell against what I will be running in standard------------------------------>http://www.mtgvault.com/averagenovice74/decks/erebos-controlmonoblack/

If I had consistent internet, I'd be more than happy to play you. Skype would probably be the best method.

Looks good! I've been messing around with elves too. My deck is a bit more aggro-based and I SB a lot of my removal. just depends on what you go up against. http://www.mtgvault.com/underwrlddreams/decks/collected-elves/

I'm still debating whether or not to include collected company in the main deck. I kinda want it in the sb for games 2-3. Guess ill have to do some testing.

I've play tested it a lot and dropping 2 shaman of the packs down with a CC is really nice.

Seems solid, would have the full four messenger though. And maybe take out some of the weaker elves in his place.

i would take out Elvish mystic for something els you don't need the ramp and take out 2 land your curve ends at 4 and the obilisk have convoke

I had thought about taking Mystics out of my Elf deck too (since they're going to be rotated out soon anyways) and replace them with Yeva's Forcemage (or wait to see what elves come out in the new set.)

I play elves as well, but this is such an early game turbo that it piddles out at the mid and late game. Games 2 and 3 are even worse. I'd suggest something to keep up the tempo late game. The small creatures trying to go wide mid or late game will be the death of this deck. G/R Devotion goes turn 3 polukranos or turn 4 atarka and will just wipe your board. hero's downfafll only helps if you see it even with the draw power of 4 cards that you might or might not see. not to mention they'll be just going as wide and tougher mid game or droping more atarkas if you kill the first with a downfall.

Good looking deck. I'm trying to build a B/G elf deck for standard myself, this is going to help me out a lot when i put mine together.
I was just wondering why you chose Elvish Mystic over Leaf Gilder? I ask because I can't decide which I would like to use in my deck.

This deck looks great! However I would run a beefy creature or two... say Managorger hydra. The more spells coming onto the field, the bigger they get. Plus any spells that are played will make them bigger. They can really slow down your opponents deck.

Great build, I would drop the Messengers completely, drop the Thoughtseize and add 3 Collected Company, 2 Sword Of The Animist Two Nissa and squeeze in Eyeblight Massacre.

Also would like to add that I built a deck similar to this a few days prior to seeing your post, mine has zero Messengers and 3 Nissa, with the 3 Collected Company.

I've seen a similar build that did decent at my local shop. 3-1 his first time playing it. Added nykthos and chord of calling. Chord is really nasty with shaman of the pack.
