Grixis "Control"

by KilljoySJ3 on 28 August 2012

Main Deck (65 cards)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

A standard modified version of a deck that I had made a while back.

I would like for this to be a strong FNM deck.

Any improvements? Sideboard ideas?

This deck needs help. Any help with the deck is appreciated.

Looks like a good start. Here are my suggestions.

I would consider using undead alchemist instead of guttersnipe since he can win the game on his own. I would personally use mindshrieker instead of shreikgeist since he's more versatile.

I would swap one land for nephalia drownyard for alt milling.

For spells, krenko's command and counterflux arn't as useful and I would replace them for 2 trepenation blade and 3 cyclonic rift.

If you get a hold of one, add in Lilliana of the Veil, she would be really use full for this deck.

Hope this helps! If you have a moment to check my current idea for a standard deck, I'd appreciate it. :)

Sadly, I only have one of the cards mentioned(trep blade). Thanks for checking out the deck. Any thoughts on a sideboard?

The card I mentioned are pretty cheap online (most expensive is cyclonic rift at $2.50, but you could use unsummon if that's too much) I would add sever the bloodline, slaughter games, pillar of flame, and rakdos charm for your sideboard, those are cheap and can help against graveyard hate and token decks.

Playing 65 cards is a worthless choise...

You shouldn't make this mill...

You don't have enough blue mana...

There are lots of spells in this deck, that I won't run...

I see, you have 2 accounts, KJSJ3... :)

Check my Grixis for ideas!.. ...it has been on top decks & you have seen it, but I have improved it since & I'm taking it to FNM next week for the 2nd time... :)

I will get back here(if I forgot, just remind me at one of my decks) & I will think on what we could do here... ...I might going to need your list of cards, that you could use in this deck & than I could help making it the best possible... :)

Slaughter Games is awesome against creatureless decks... ...control decks usually has only 1-3 finishers & if you can pull out 2 Games, than you're at the door of victory... :)

Play 4 Games in the sideboards!.. ...also... ...Rakdos Charm for Keyrunes, grave decks and tokens(could deal 6-8 damage to a player at once)... :)

You really shouldn't play mill, expecially a deck, that is half mill & half damage... ...& not strong in either...

I donno', if you have Snapcasters, but with some Dreadbore, Mortars, Rift, Injunction, Pillar & stuff, it's very strong!..

Thundermaw Hellkite, or Hypersonic Dragon are both nice finishers... ...&/or Olivia Woldaren... ...Desecration Demon is nice, when you run many removal spells...

...consider 1-2 Bonfire!..

...we'll get back to this... :)

I don't have any snaps, rift, bonfire. I have 1 hellkite, 2 hypersonic, 4 des demon, 1 mortars. I can borrow 2 olivia and 2-3 games from a friend. I usually play B/W tokens (you can see my failed attempt at esper here. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=400003), but with rift, mortars, etc, they are easy to deal with. Thanks for the help so far.

I've found Electrickery to be very useful with "control".
