First this deck is a variant of an old deck called Suicide Black http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/deck/85, with a twist. Instead of a heavy creature focus it is based only on control. Now to explain the build. The meta at my home games is a little funky, witch causes a lot of strange choices Like:1x Damnation1x Black Sun's Zenith1x Mutilate1x Decree of PainInstead of 4 of one of them. This is because of people running creatures that can't be destroyed and creatures that are too big for a Mutilate to kill. Witch brings up the argument of Black Sun's Zenith, it is good by its self but running too much of it makes me see Melira, Sylvok Outcast and friends run that anyway because of infect. Decree of Pain is good for the card draw and in a multi-player environment extremely useful but can be harder to cast. Damnation is better for the low mana cost giving it more early game function. Oblivion Stone along with Karn Liberated have a place in the deck for one simple reason........ Story Circle<----This bastard has led me to hate magic on several occasions and made me stop playing Mono-Red. Black along with Red don't have very many good ways to deal with artifacts and none for enchantments. These two give me a fighting chance. Sorin Markov.... Beats life gains face in and Batterskull is the best equipment printed in a long time usually winning games on its own.Now as for Paradise Plume.... It's my favorite card. : )
This one is very straight forward. Kill threats and kill opponent. To be more specific a good Exsanguinate or 2/3 Corrupt should score a victory. Batterskull or Karn can also get the job done.
