The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Haven't played MtG in over a decade, and recently decided to pick it up again, now that my kids are old enough to enjoy it. My first purchase was the Izzet vs. Golgari Duel Decks, and I fell in love with the Izzet deck in that set. Went out and bought a bunch of RtR boosters, and ended up with 2 Epic Experiments. I thought, "ok, cool...what would go well with this?" and the idea for my deck was born.
Guttersnipes are critical to the deck, and the Young Pyromancers help provide cannon fodder for keeping you in the game long enough to get an Epic Experiment and enough mana to make it worth using....if you can manage an X of 5 or 6 in the casting cost, with a few Guttersnipes in play under your control, this will do tremendous damage, especially if you draw some Shocks, Skullcracks, and FotFs. Hypersonic Dragon will turn your Epic Experiment into a nasty surprise during your opponent's turn, and the Divinations will help you get to your Epic Experiments. I'm still fairly new to this, and this deck was designed, in large part, around the cards I happened to already have, so there's definitely room for tweaking.

If you really want to rely on Epic Experiment I would cut the Counterspells (which dont work well with it). Also I would go with less creatures and / or creatures that let you "scry" to set up cards for the experiment. I would cut the Dragon and the Hover Barriers to make room for it.And why no "Brainstorm"? It seems like the perfect fit for "Epic E" (again to set up cards for the combo) and you should have it, since you bought the Duel Deck. Did you want to keep the deck legal for Standard?
Yeah, trying to keep it in Standard....I've been looking it over, and I have to agree with killing off the counterspells...they're wasted in the Epic Experiment....
You should take a look at Omenspeaker from the upcoming set Theros. Also Magma Jet is more then worth noting.
Made a few edits...
