Deck Description

The point of this game is to create many creature tokens from akroan horse, precinct captain, assemble the legion, and akroan crusader so I can maximize the the attack power for akroan hoplite and, also, I can gain life for each attacking tokens/creatures at the same time. Also, for each tokens produced, I would deal 2 damage to opponents from purphorus.

On the plus side, akroan hoplite will be flying when attacking with cavalry pegasus, along with other human creatures.

I have some creatures like fiendslayer paladin and soldier of the pantheon that will give me life. Also, I have creatures like Anax and Cymede, phalanx leader, and spear of heliod to "beef" up the tokens/creatures.

I think this deck can be fast and overwhelm the opponents while it can be hard to kill me since I would have so many creatures/tokens and I would have alot of lifepoints too.

I have boros charm to protect my creatures/token from sweepers and I can give my akroan hoplite double strike, just for the pleasure of overkill ;)

Any advice will be greatly appreciated! :)

18 Lands scared me. :-X

The mana curve for this looks like you need at least 22 lands or 23 to be safe.

Ok, I fixed it. thanks for the input. :)

Yeah, I run at least 22 lands in really quick infect where I only have 4 3drops maz

I noticed a better chance of getting land when i played a few games with 22 lands, instead of 18 lands which made me have land problems for a few turns and made me lose. Thanks for the advice and I'm keeping 22 lands :)

Ajani, Caller of the Pride would go great here.

and in the side board, I would do 2 Anax & Cymede and 1 Tajic, Blade of the Leigon. This will run smoother.

Which card would you recommend to replace with Ajani, Caller of the Pride into the mainboard? I fixed the sideboard to the numbers that you suggested. Thanks :)

I would take out 1x Gideon, Champion of Justice and 1x Cavalry Pegasus. Add 2x Ajani, Caller of the Pride. This is a good combo in which Ajani's final ability with give you a definite win condition. Gideon is a possible good thing for this deck, but Ajani will be better.

hmmm...wouldn't Gideon be better for FFA (Free for All) since other opponents would have soldier tokens too and I can use Gideon's first ability to get him higher loyalty count? But I like the idea of adding Ajani to this deck

Giddeon is nice and all, but Ajani gives you buffs, and then cats that spawn from an ability that runs with your primary deck mechanic.

True, that's a very good point. Taking out Gideon of deck ha.

Probably works for the better. Gideon even though he is a soldier and fits nicely like that, only works depending on the amount of creatures your opponent controls. So Ajani will help buff up your squishies. ^_^

Even though I know this mainly a human/token/Purphoros smacks you upside in da head kind of deck, but wouldn't something like Archangel of Thune or Firemane Avenger help here? Maybe a Door of Destinies?

I also agree with nocleverusername with the Ajani.

hmmm...I don't think door of destinies will work on soldier tokens since tokens are not "cast" spells. Archangel of Thune is nice, but it's converted mana cost is a little high and I would like to try to keep the converted mana costs at 4 or less for faster aggro. Assemble the legion is the exception since it produces me more soldier tokens ;) but thanks for the input tho, I will keep the suggestion in mind. Will try out the deck and see if I would need the Archangel of Thune or not.

You could at least sideboard it for late game against control and similar stalling decks

0

"As Door of Destinies enters the battlefield, choose a creature type.
Whenever you cast a spell of the chosen type, put a charge counter on Door of Destinies.
Creatures you control of the chosen type get +1/+1 for each charge counter on Door of Destinies."

You are completely correct. But when you've cast Akroan Crusader, Akroan Hoplite, Phalanx Leader, Precinct Captain or Soldier of the Pantheon, you will get the counter on the door. That will apply to all soldiers.

Thune would be an amazing addition to this deck she can buff all of your tokens and it would just speed up your win condition

0

I was thinking that but its converted mana cost is a little high, it would slow down the deck a bit.

0

Very true i think its a good sideboard card for dealing with a deck that slows you down

0
Posted 08 October 2013 at 21:02

I put it in my sideboard and I'll use it in the mainboard when I'm facing a control deck, which will slow down my deck. Thanks for the input. :)

For a bit faster win, could you add something like Pasifism into the main deck to stop people blocking the Akroan horse? That way you can keep it on the board without it dying AND keep on getting soldiers

Something like Healer of the Pride would also help with lifegain

0

I wish i could use healer of the pride, but it is not standard so I cant use it. But good suggestion on pacifism. I'll try to squeeze it in my mainboard.

0

Pacifism is a good suggestion, I added 2 pacifism and took out 1 martial glory and 1 battlewise valor, hope its worth it :)

Also, I wish I could use healer of the pride but, unfortunately, it is not standard anymore so I cant use it :(

Healer of the Pride was remade in M14........
Are you thinking of the 2/3 white cat for 4 mana that you gain 2 life every time a creature enters the battlefield?

0
Posted 09 October 2013 at 03:36

ignore my recent comment, I thought it was M14!
Oops, but it's the thought that counts! Maybe you could make a modern version?

0

Caller of the Pride was remade, check it out in his sideboard, I think you have the wrong Ajani.

0

CALLER of the Pride is the Ajani planeswalker
HEALER of the Pride is a 2/3 cat creature
Same sort of thing, but entirely different cards. The only things that they share are colours and being cats

0

Ye, that's affirmative. Ajani, caller of the pride was remade for m14, but healer of the pride (2/3 cat that gives 2 life for every creature entering the battlefield). Christ, that would be a little overpowered with alot of lifepoints ha ;)

You should see my Goat deck:
http://www.mtgvault.com/s0rinmark0v/decks/theres-me-goats/
I have 3 in there AND I have been gaining 6 life a turn because of the collective healers

0

Do it, if it's standard and makes your deck OP, there's no reason NOT to.

0

I see Healer as an M13 print, not standard anymore, that is a shame.

0

Like I suggested earlier......
Make a modern version and keep this one! Or just let me do it

0
Posted 09 October 2013 at 03:49

Yea, I agree it's a shame...but i cant thinking what it would be like gaining life non-stop every turn for each token that comes into the battlefield.

I'll make a modern version and see how it goes. I'll use rhox faithmender to double the lifegain hehe

To sum it up in one word: Amazing!
I don't really play Selesnya, but my junk goat token deck not only works, but is REALLY fun to play

I'll check it out. Used to play selesyna token deck with parallel lives and other cards from innistrad.

Versed a similar type of thing. Hated it. All of those tokens, SO many tokens.......

0

Yea, it was overwhelming? That's what I'm trying to do with this deck without parallel lives ha. Hopefully, akroan horse and assemble the legions and soldiers will be similar or better than parallel lives.

0

So you can use Congregate, two life for each creature in play

check my deck kind of similiar as yours http://www.mtgvault.com/betogribeiro/decks/soldiers-tokens-of-theros/

hmmm...I could add that card for more life

0

Looks like a fun deck! I would drop the Akron Horses though... they require you to keep a 0/4 blocker in play. Why help your opponent? The Akroan Crusader, is a better choice if your going to devote 10+ spells to targeting creatures. Run four of them. I would also expect this deck to have problems with tempo and control because there are no real control spells or spells with scrye. Oblivion Ring is a good start for control. I'd drop the planeswalkers and go with some control spells. Goodluck and please feel free to comment on my Boros is BOSS deck.

0

I could use pacifism on the akroan horse to keep it in play and the opponent wont be able to use it as a blocker. Also, I have boros charm to protect my tokens from sweepers and temple of triumph for scry.

0

Unless you think I should add legion's initiative to my mainboard so I can have more protection and extra +1/+1 for my creature/tokens?

0
Posted 09 October 2013 at 03:39

You don't need to add the Initiative, trade the Horses for Magma Jet, you get a cheap burn and scrys from that.

0

The horses are the gain focus of the deck
They start the token gathering

0
Posted 09 October 2013 at 03:42

They start it turn 4 when he has the potential to get it started turn 2. It speeds the deck up and gives him some omni-potential cards. Sometimes a quick 3 damage can win you games. Or a specific, kill off a creature blocking Precint Captain so he can get a token.

0

Thanks s0rinmark0v, the akroan horse is the focus of this deck. During my turn, Iwould be able to make token with my soldiers and assemble the legion for combat phase and the horse creates tokens during the opponent's turn so I can have tokens for defense. Basically, my goal is to get tokens created non-stop every single turn possible to try to overwhelm the opponents ;)
