I looked up the rules it will end when the opponent is dead. Sanguine bond states "Whenever you gain life, target opponent loses that much life." so a different opponent can be chosen for each life gaining event. exquisite blood states "Whenever an opponent loses life, you gain that much life." if there is no opponent to lose life you cannot gain life. this works for changing targets in a multiplayer game when an oppenent dies u can essentially kill everyone in one turn.
