Here's the challenge:
Paste a deck link to your Timmy-est, battlecruiser, turn-cards-sideways EDH deck in the comments section. See the How-To-Play section for more details.
You should be aiming for max damage. I'm not prioritising intricacy and elegance (bonus points if this is achieved). The most original and ostensibly stupid-powerful deck wins.
No, i'm not looking for 2-card combos as wincons or decks packed with removal and counterspells (but backup combos are okay). Of course, your deck will be evaluated for well-rounded-ness, so do include these kinds of spells (card draw, ramp, answers, insurance) for functionality's sake. Maybe kill spells are part of your Timmy antics (i'm looking at you, Kresh)... think outside the box.
I want to see your Casual All-star. Don't show me cEDH Blood Pod and expect to win. Assume that the meta encompasses all range of EDH decks, but don't worry about fitting in at Budget, cEDH, or theme-deck tables.
Any color combo or commander is fair game, and bonus points for choosing an atypical Timmy commander or color combination. I've been playing EDH for 5yrs, so I'll know if you simply ripped a list off EDH rec. Originality is just as important as raw power.
Why this challenge? ... Two reasons:
One, EDH is becoming increasingly competitive. A lot of players are jumping on the cEDH bandwagon, which is great, it's an awesome format and one that I enjoy. But many of us cannot afford the steep costs of cEDH and enjoy a goofy and pro-social game of EDH to unwind between 60-card tournaments. At the heart of EDH is the primitive desire to beat-face and pull of epic plays. I'm a self-proclaimed Johnny/Spike, but playing Timmy has always been a favourite pastime. Creating the Timmiest deck should be a challenge that all different magic demographics can enjoy (like a sweet childhood memory).
Two, when I started using this website 3yrs ago, there was a greater sense of community. Deckbuilders helped deckbuilders, and people spent a lot of time and energy leaving insightful comments and tuning their own decks. Since then, I've noticed a decline in activity and community spirit. EDH is the magical embodiment of community, a format for the people. Hopefully this challenge will bring people together, encourage contestants to focus on their deck design and look at other players' decks and profiles.
If you have made it this far, thank you for reading and good luck! Remember, the goal here is FUN, so let that be reflected in your deck submission.
Even if you're not interested in entering or need some time to assemble a deck, please like this post to increase its exposure and get more contestants!
Paste a link to your deck in the comments section, identify the commander, and provide a few sentences of description.
It doesn't need to be a new deck; feel free to use a deck you already have.
Paste that description (or feel free to expand/rewrite it) in the deck description box of your deck.
Outline a few cool synergies in the how-to-play box.
I will personally review and comment on each deck that meets these requirements (and I recommend that others do the same).
You can edit your deck at any point during the competition.
On Saturday, the 24th of November, i'll announce the Top 6 decks. At that point, I will give MTGvault users the chance to vote on which of these 6 decks they like best. The Saturday after that, the 1st of December, i'll announce the Gold, Silver, and Bronze winners based on votes received, and post the deck lists with my detailed review of each deck.
So, why should I enter if there isn't a "prize"?
As a magic player, you're building decks anyway. Challenges are fun and encourage creativity. Why not fight the deck-building burnout by taking a shot at first place? If enough people enter, your deck will receive a lot of attention and hype.
