This is a deck designed to use the mana generating power of a green deck with the burn instants and sorcery cards of a red deck. Throw in a little heavy defense and it's fun to see how much damage you can do with a single spell.
The idea is to use Overgrown Battlement, Rampant Growth, and Cultivate to quickly generate mana. After the third or fourth turn, you should be in a position to chain cast Pulse of the Forge, Flames of the Blood Hand, and your killer cards, Banefire and Demonfire.
All of these creatures are defenders. Steel Wall and Tinder Wall only cost one mana each. Also, Wall of roots, Tinder Wall, and Overgrown Battlements can all be used to give you burst mana for Banefire and Demonfire.
If your opponent has strong creatures, I suggest having Slagwurm Armor ready for round two. The bane of this deck is of course, flyers. So, have Hurricane, Traproot Kami, and Wall of Vines ready to swap out for Demonfire, Tinder Wall and Steel Wall.
A variation of this deck is to use Birds of Paradise (and/or Lanowar Elves) and Orcish Lumberjack for optional mana generation instead of Overgrown Battlement. This variation doesn't rely on walls as much. So take out the Overgrown Battlements and add cards like Wall of Vines, Deadly Recluse, and Ornithopter for a more balanced deck.
If you feel your mana is not generating fast enough, combo your cheap spells with Sprouting Vines and Explore. This works well for both variations.
You may find you are getting too many of your Banefire and Demonfire cards. You could rely on chain casting your cheaper spells for massive damage instead. If that's the case, try swapping out Demonfire for Lightning Bolt.
Finally, if it bothers you not to have a nice creature card to throw in there, I highly recommend any of the powerful green hydras, especially Apocalypse, Primordial, and Protean Hydras.
I've still yet to figure out exactly what I'd put in my sideboard based on the 60 card deck you see. I know that I'd have 4 Hurricanes, Wall of Vines, Sprouting Vines, Lightning Bolt, and a couple of Hydras. I'll need to do some testing otherwise. The reason the sidebar is so massive is simply because I wanted everybody to see the options I was talking about earlier.
If anybody knows of cards which are more efficient than some I have listed, please feel free to let me know!
Thanks!
