This deck is part of the 1 mana deck series.the goal of this series is to build viable decks while having the highest mana cost be only 1.Orzhov is notorious for being controlling and manipulative, and this deck does just that. The deck controls and limits your opponent's hand and punishes them for playing lots of cards, making it hard for them to keep up with its fast pace. For a more budget friendly version swap out the non basic lands for guild gates and the thoughtsieze for horrifying revelation.
The goal of this deck is control. either they keep a full hand and you can attack with buffed creatures or keep things locked up on the board and punish them for playing too aggressively.Key cards:Gnat MiserChampion of the parishEthereal ArmorShrieking AfflictionSideboard substitutions:Champion of the Parish= Ghost-lit Stalker.Sinister possession= OustAnd the rest can be swapped out for pretty much anything.

So much control for one mana! Love it!

yup. that was kinda the point. :)
I really like it!
I want sure if we were going to do budget or not so... Yeah. But swap out the lands and sideboard a few cards and you have cut the price pretty drastically.
Bloodchief ascension could do some damage here.
Especially if you subbed champion of the parish for ghost-lit stalker...
Don't worry about the price ... the point is to call attention to them.
yeah... I know. but $400 is either way to cheap to attract attention from 1 major group, or too little to attract the other. :)and bloodchief is good, but that I why I have shrieking affliction in here. That and I kind of don't like Bloodchief. don't know why. perhaps it just seems too inconsistent, which probably seems a bit comical but... that is just how my mind looks at things I guess. I will certainly SB it to swap out at some point.
Good point, it does better in decks that are focused around it
Yeah ... like vampire decks. Then it starts to get crazy.
hmm... i'm not sure about the mana curve...
Yeah, it DOES seem a bit high to me as well... Any suggestions?
i personally think emrakul would be a lovely addition to a deck like this.
How about BFG? I was thinking about that too. Or maybe gleemax?
ahh yes, gleemax is perfect.
I have another deck like this if you wanted to check it out. :) it is called there can be only 1 (cmc that is), I think that it is better than this one. :)
hopeful eidolon might be a good addition
I thought about that, but I want sure if I liked the fact that it allows me to play a card for more than 1 mana, even s an alternate casting cost. If I wanted to out that in here I would run nip gwyllion. (I think that is what it is called.)
the lifelink might be nice on 1 of those lvl up creatures
yes, but in order for me to get it I have to break my rule, and play something for more than 1 mana, which was kinda the point. now as for if I wasn't limiting myself to 1 mana... then heck yes I would put it in here. :)
Gnat Miser is nasty.Pharika's Chosen and Typhoid Rats are nastier.Gravecrawler is quite possibly the nastiest.
I love typhoid rats
Pharika's Chosen are exactly the same, but they are snakes. Whichever creature type suits you best.I LOVE Gravecrawler. Just image if you happen to have a black sac outlet ... oh wait, they are really common. Replace all those sac costs with 1 Black mana.
he could fit in my zombie deck but I run it as a zombie swampwalk http://www.mtgvault.com/vaan104/decks/the-dead-walk/
theres a 1 drop lifelink flyer called daggerdome imp that's good to
yes, I know that typhoid rats and pharika's chosen are great, but I am really going for the hand control with this deck. :)grave crawler... I honestly don't see it being all that useful in this deck, since I don't have any other zombies. and yes it is dirt cheap and can be played from the graveyard. (I know... I am crazy... DON'T JUDGE ME!!!!) Jk... :)for real though... I just don't see it helping what my overall goal is: to punish people for aggressive play, which allows for a more advantageous (and hopefully empty) battlefield.now I will say that I think that I have a weak point with my creatures aside from gnat miser:Gideon 's lawkeeper. I know that tap is good, but... I think that there are better cards out there. perhaps I can swap it out for the typhoid rats or the Chosen. :) Deathtouch is always a plus. any other suggestions?oh and I am pretty sure that daggerdrome is a 2 drop. but I will double check. :)edit: yeah, daggerdrome is 2 mana. I think that vault skirge is better. it is identical except that you can pay 1 Phyrexian black mana and 1 other instead of a normal black and 1 other. :) being able to put it out on turn 1 is a pretty nice deal for 2 life.
it could be a 2 drop im not sure atm
Hmm, hand control ... how 'bout a gravecrawler =). Seriously though, you should consider taking a peek for yourself.http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&color=+@%28+[B]%29&cmc=+=[1]
O.o? I am confused...
That's the list of all black on-drops ... how did you think I found cards? XD.
Lol... ok, I saw that, but I wasn't exactly sure that is what you meant... I wasn't sure if you wanted me to actually look through it because of a specific card or, what? so yeah... :) I usually spend a good chunk of time on the card search here on MTGVault when building decks but I still miss quite a few good cards. So I find it very useful to have more than a single pair of eyes looking, if that makes sense. :)
I must ask... Why is Emrakul not in this deck yet?
Meh... it was just not powerful enough.
hmm.. that is dissapointing.
