Deck Description

everyone says that at its heart white is a pure life gain monster... that can't win games because it can't deal any damage. To them I introduce the most obnoxious life gain deck of all time. the one that kills you.

Magic Origins introduced a rather annoying enchantment called Tainted Remedy that turns all life gain that your opponents would have into life loss instead.

SIDENOTE: finding life gain cards that can target other players is not an easy task.

as with all of my decks, comments and suggestions for improvement are always welcome. :)

for a modern legal deck swap life burst for rest for the weary, and sword to plowshares for unmake, reciprocate or oust.

How to Play

the goal is to get Tainted Remedy on the field as quickly as possible and essentially burn your enemies with life gain cards. :)

big hitters:
Alms beast (never thought I would see that as a good card)
life burst
vizkopa guildmage (giving your opponents creatures life gain to hurt them is awesome.)

and plenty of removal to deal with creatures that you don't want out. with a side of life gain to punish them for daring to challenge your authority.

oh, and if you actually NEED it... you can gain life for yourself as Tainted Remedy doesn't hurt you.

Deck discussion for heal you to death

You could just use Lifelink to give their creatures lifelink. ;) (Creature decks only, obviously...so maybe in the SB.) I agree, Almsbeast never looked so good...& this is a very versatile deck, as you could play it as is, or take it in many directions. +1.

while I do like Lifelink, I decided that I liked Hopeful Eidolon better as it can double as a creature in a pinch. a bit on the expensive side yeah, but I will have to test it out and see which one I like better. thanks for the comment and +1.

Funny, I completed my Tainted Remedy in the last days as well. :)

Life Burst is awesome. I took it out though because I wasn't sure how reliable it would be. Went the Rest for the Weary-route instead.
Also, I like Beacon of Immortality and Congregate for massive damage/instakill.

@ Morty
I liked Rest for the weary as well, but I wasn't sure how... reliable, for lack of a better term, the landfall would be in this particular deck, so I went with life burst. Beacon looked a bit too expensive mana-wise for me, and congregate is really good, but only if there are a lot of creatures out. I won't be putting too many out, and I am hoping to keep my opponent's creatures to a minimum with some handy spot removal, so I decided to pass on that as well.

and I would love to take a look at your deck. thanks for commenting. :)

I wanted to see your Remedy deck, so I stalked you bit, lol. Very nice! I never thought to use Vizkopa, and I cant believe I didnt... I use him in another deck with the Exquisite Blood combo, so I know what he does XD Have a Like, and a Follow as well.

Fine by me. :)
I think that vizkopa guys really well with tainted remedy when you don't have any life gain cards in hand. Add really good with life gain cards when you don't have tainted remedy out. :)

I agree. Very nice! I might switch my 3 eternal thirsts for Vizkopa's in my own, I think it would work much better.

Pretty clever deck you have here. Definitely a +1 from me. I assume you want to keep this as budget as possible, or I'd see fetch and shock lands no?

meh, it is a fairly casual deck so not really competitive enough to warrant putting in shock lands, and evolving wilds suits my needs for fetch lands for the same reason.

I understand. Certainly nothing wrong with budget decks. How's it working out for you so far? Tainted Remedy causing your opponents' faces pain? heheh.
Since you're also good at Modern, I was hoping you could take a look at this new version of hatebears, now that Splinter Twin and Summer Bloom have been banned. http://www.mtgvault.com/tleung84633/decks/teddy-bear-hug/
Take it easy man!

sure I can take a look, though I claim no level of expertise in modern. I shall do my best to give some good advice. :)
