Doving Baan is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated plainswalkers in the standard format. In a control shell he locks down trouble creatures in an aggro match, gives card advantage, and if he gets his ultimate off you can cruise to a win.Baral is in the deck as a double edged sword. If people remove them you don't care as he is in the deck to soak up removal. If they waste it on Baral they will not have it for the Saheeli combo pieces. If it lives you will only gain advantage with your spells. This deck is set up for both Modern with the Saheeli combo and for standard. I would like to concentrate on making this competitive in standard.
NEVER attempt to drop the second piece of the combo without a dispel or counter spell in hand. Wait a turn if you have to. This deck will not win without the combo before board. If Baral is on field you will have the equivalent of a counterspell in disallow and a 1 mana negate. This deck requires a lot of patience which may be hard against an aggro shell.
