Deck Description

Cheap, basic lifegain for beginners. Built for my boyfriend who is still new to magic and is interested in lifegain.

How to Play

Play the spells, gain the life.

CHALICE OF LIFE becomes the CHALICE OF DEATH to deal 5 damage when necessary. Multiple chalices will really deal some damage.

LONE RIDER is a great damage dealer.

AETHERFLUX RESERVE is your other "fun" wincon for obvious reasons. It's also the more fun one. If only it somehow had lifelink... would be rad for group games.

Das it! Leave a comment below and let me know how much this sucks. Remember when recommending cards, I prefer to keep much decks under a staunch $30 budget.

Deck discussion for Very Basic Lifegain

+1
I would trade Aetherflux Reservoir and 2-3 of the Divine Favor for some Angelic Accord. Especially strong as it also triggers in your opponents endstep, making Soul Warden and Soul's Attendant even better.
Ordeal of Heliod could also be an option instead of Divine Favor, especially when used with Ajani's Pridemat.

Greetings
Muktol

Luminous wake on a moth is fun. Especially if the opponent has no flyers.
Suture priest is also a must. +1
No one else will agree but I always liked survival cache

Forgot to mention felidar sovereign, costs 6 but maybe a 1 of for another win con.
Aerial responder is also worth considering for budget lifegain.

If considering rhox faithmender, my favorite combo is ajani golmane and wall of reverence. Doubles life total. :)

I like survival cache as well. It seems to over perform. I thinks it's because of how important card draw is and how little white actually gets to draw cards.

I like the deck, but with a curve that low you're going to want to work in some kind of card draw so he doesn't run out of steam. Mono-white's best option is probably Mentor of the Meek.
I also second Survival Cache. It's a good 2-for-1 over 2 turns.
I'd probably take out Elixir of Immortality, since it's kind of a do-nothing card against anything non-mill, and replace it with some instant-speed removal like Devouring Light or Harm's Way. It'll give him some practice reacting to combat.
All in all, +1. This site needs more starter decks.

Thank you all for the suggestions -- Everything has been put into the sideboard. When I have more time I'll definitely use your suggestions to help fine-tune the deck. Much appreciated!

Might I suggest swapping out the Ajani's Sunstriker for Knights of Meadowgrain. Same cost and first strike can come in handy.

Try Honor of the Pure to pump your tiny little dudes. Also, Martyr of Sands is great for life gain and can transform your chalice quickly.

How about gaining life from lands? Kabira Crossroads is a really good budget land to do so with. Maybe you can get away with putting 1 Radiant Fountain aswell
