Don't go with the mind grind! I've done a lot of analysis on mind funeral, and the result is that it mills 14 cards on avreage against decks with 22 lands, which translates into 3.5 cards per land the mind funeral is based on. That means that mind grind will move the following amounts of cards at the following costs: 3 mana = mills about 3.5 cards on an average. 4 mana = mills about 7 cards on an average. 5 mana = mills about 10.5 cards on an average. 6 mana = mills about 14 cards on an average. 7 mana = mills about 17.5 cards on an average. You will be better of with archive trap which costs 3UU and mills 13, and may be played for free if your opponent searches his or her deck for any reason!

Thanks so much for you input! I wasn't planning on doing the stats myself :pAny comment on using Echo Mage or suggestions for a better card for protection aside from Wall of Frost? I was thinking Hover Barrier since it has Flying.
KAIRU: If you really really want the protection, the most "casual" pick will be ensnaring bridge, though it has some disadvantages. Otherwise click on my name/handle, then research the two decks with CURRENT in their names, see the how to play and that stuff.
HAH! GOT IT! I caught a lucky insight last weekend when searching after a new sideboard card for my modern mill. leyline of singularity: The leyline will be valuable in legacy as well, because it seriously slows down creaturedecks, and that is something I have been searching for in a long time, and it's not likely to be countered :) In modern it allmost cripples token-decks, give egg-decks a hell when they play second sunrise, and elfcombo will also suffer a lot. And since you requested something to protect you from creatures, this should be a card for you! Unless your permanents interfere too much ? Perhaps lose the zendicons? Keep the crabs, since they get killed so often it doesn't matter if you have to keep most of them in your hand for a while :)
