Deck Description

I like certain kinds of control and this is the kind I like. I just started making this and I have not played control before so please help me make this better, And please comment!

How to Play

Really, don't care how many cards they have in there hand just put a tarmagoyf, a voice of resurgence and a noble hierarach down remand their spell, snapcast it again and if they play another spell mana leak it, and on the last turn counter their spell with cryptic, return or tap what they have left, and kill them. I hope you like this deck!

Deck discussion for Fishy Ooze, Mmmm....

This is a pretty vicious deck! No wonder it's price tag is 2K+

Thanks For commenting! Sometimes I wish magic was just a little cheaper, But some people earn hundreds of thousands of dollars playing so I guess it has to be expensive. Do you think this deck is good? And if you want me to look at any of your decks, tell me. :)

Yes I think it is very good. I know this on the fact that I wouldn't want to play against it. And I would love some input on my Modern brew that I'm trying to perfect. http://www.mtgvault.com/maniacalmaniac/decks/fiery-fate/
It's pretty strong already but always looking for improvements. Thanks

Great deck! Haha! I'm yet to make a bant deck that works. I might try this one though, although I'll swap an angel for another ooze... Can you check out my two new decks when you get the chance?

If you play splinter twin on a legendary creature and you tap it does the token just hit the grave? :)

You choose either the token or the original

Nice deck, as a modern player Gofy is a big pain in the rear if you cannot find a way to deal with it, and with your control you should be able to keep your gofy alive to make him turn into a late game threat. I think you can find a better replacement for Jace beleren, possibly Elspeth, Knight-Errant or Tamiyo. If you wouldnt mind looking at my deck ill link below,

+1 thanks

'The reason that batturskull is run in legacy is because of the stoneforge mystic. I actually can't decide between wurmcoil and batterskull

Hey, can you check out my new deck? It's EDH and I think that it'll be good.

In my opinion this is a very strong deck, very versatile and looks like it will stack up well against most of the good top decks in modern. I would recommend in the sideboard ghost quarters over the tectonic edges, it can cut out land combos turn 1/2 that tec edge cant hit. Also i would recommend leylines of sanctity in the sideboard, perhaps even voidslime, trickbind, avyn mindcensor, even a crucible of worlds would be good.

Yes I haven't developed the side board yet, but I will do that. :)

I'd recommend going up to three Cliques and four Restos, that way you can play the control role while still deploying threats. I understand the need for a strong beater like Tarmogoyf, but I think Geist might be equally as good if not better in this build with all the ways you have to push him through, not to mention it's a lot safer to tap out for him and play him on curve. Maybe try Vapor Snag over Bant Charm, three CMC removal seems pretty slow in a format as fast as modern. The green seems very out of place to me and I'm not sure either of those walkers are strong enough to make the cut in modern.

Hm, does this actually work? I mean, against efficient decks.

What does the Restoration Angel do? You could flicker the Clique with it, okay, but there is only one copy in the deck. And you could flicker the Snapcaster, however, if you do that, you have already spent 4 mana on the Angel and then you need more mana to spend on the flashback. This will rarely work and almost never when you really need it to work! I suggest Blinding Angel instead (you will have problems against weenie decks!).

Shouldn't Scavenging Ooze be placed in the sideboard? And ... doesn't have some bad synergy with Tarmogoyf? Speaking of that dude: Is Tarmogoyf really the right choice for this deck? You'll provide lands and instants but what about the rest? Note that your only creature removal exiles and that most of your counterspells return the spell to the owner's hand ...

I also don't see what Tamiyo accomplishes in this deck. The tapping is nice but is it worth an investment of 5 mana? 5 mana usually means you have to tap out and the opponent can finally cast his key spells. I'd go with Thassa, God of the Seas instead. You run a lot ofone-ofs and 2-ofs, Thassa helps you getting what you want.

The mana base:
Marsh Flats!? That should be Windswept Heath, right? Also, have you noticed that your selection of duals provides blue, green and white mana almost equally while your actual selection of spells asks for more blue mana than green and white combined? This means, every dual should provide blue mana and every fetchie should be able to fetch blue mana. Temple Garden has to go in favour of something else.

... I somewhat have the feeling that you just put together a lot of cards that are or have been expensive once without really thinking about if they actually work together. Goyf is a nice creature but mostly useful in aggressive decks with lots of spot removal where it is assured that cards of all types enter the graveyards fast. Here it will be a lot slower, additionally you srew up your mana base with splashing green like this, the deck could run a lot smoother if you ditched green altogether. Of course, that would make the deck a lot less expensive ... so, the question would be what's more important to you, to show off or to have a consistent deck that wins.

I'm not a control player myself, but I do like what you have got going on here. It's a good mix of control and good creatures. Keep up the good work sir. I'm new to modern and have built my first, hopefully competitive, deck. If you could help me out that would be great. http://www.mtgvault.com/zeppelin/decks/cant-afford-to-fetch-modern/
