A ramp deck utilizing Gargos, Vicious Watcher as a Hydra synergy to lower the costs of cards such as Hydroid Krasis and Voracious Hydra. It also features Planeswalkers such as Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner to synergize with Bioessence Hydra.NOTE: I did try to play Hungering Hydra, but I found that it wasn’t quite strong enough to make the cut.
As with any ramp deck, the objective is to declare board presence early with mana dorks and/or Planeswalkers to start making absurd amounts of mana. One of my favorite combos is an incubation Druid on t2, followed by a Hadana’s climb on t3. Go to combat, add the counter, and go crazy. From here, you can pay 3 to cast Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner, which then untaps Incubation Druid. Your mana on turn 4 is just unfair. Assuming you play a land and already had a Llanowar Elves on t1, that’s a total of 11 mana. On turn four! Cast Voracious Hydra for 11 mana or X=9, and it will come in as an 18/19, assuming you double the counters. That’s not even mentioning Gargos, Vicious Watcher, who will reduce Hydra costs even further! Just a reminder that “Hydra spells you cast cost 4 less to cast” applies to X costs, so the value with Voracious Hydra or Hydroid Krasis is truly remarkable. Another fun combo is as follows. Turn 1 Llanowar Elves. Turn 2 Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner. Turn 3 Bioessence Hydra, which comes in as a 10/10, assuming Kiora’s Devotion is 6.I hope you guys enjoy the deck!
