Deck Description

Humans, Elves, Treefolk and others banding together against a common foe? What is this, Middle-Earth?

Nope. Just a seemingly ragtag band of Warriors banding together and bashing face.

How to Play

If there's anyone on this site that's been following my decks (unlikely...heheh), they'd notice I'm a big tribal fan. Probably no card shows up in my decks more often than Cavern of Souls. :-)

Some tribes are easy and obvious: Vampires, Zombies, Elves, Goblins, Humans, a few others. Not to take away from those decks at all (I have tribal decks for them all that I love), but some of them practically build themselves. Others take a bit of work.

I recently delved into one of these more obscure tribes: Archers. Now I'd like to do the same with one that has more support, but I haven't seen many decks focus on: Warriors.

Warriors are spread across many different races and colors, appearing in all five colors and all the tribes I mentioned above...and many, many others; this deck alone features TEN different races that are all Warriors. With that much diversity, you may not expect much unity in trying to build a Warrior-centric deck.

Well, expect the unexpected. There are a lot of cards that refer to "Warriors" of any race, and most of them appear here. Perhaps the best of the lot is Bramblewood Paragon, who gives each Warrior that enters play a +1/+1 counter...and then trample on top of it. Brighthearth Banneret makes them cheaper. Lovisa Coldeyes gives them +2/+2 and haste. Sosuke basically gives them deathtouch. Boldwyr Intimidator makes them unblockable. And Unstoppable Ash basically replaces a small Warrior with a big beater on the cheap.

Because the rest of your Warrior pack are so diverse, you get a lot of diverse capabilities. Champion of Lambholt can grant mass unblockability. Boggart Ram-Gang can wither away stronger opposing creatures. Wolfir Avenger can flash in for a surprise, regnerating blocker. Wolfir Silverheart and Wrecking Ogre and Zealous Conscripts provide big impacts that can bust the game wide open. And Jedit Ojanen and Hunting Triad keep the Warriors coming.

There's even Warrior help from the lands. Aside from the mana-fixing RG lands, you've got Cavern of Souls to make each and every creature in this deck uncounterable, and Ghitu Encampment can itself become a spiffy like first striking Warrior in a pinch.

I imagine this deck needs some help (any and all comments appreciated!), but I like the potential here. And just imagine the look of surprise on your opponent's face when you play Cavern and name "Warrior". As Monty Python would say it, "and now for something completely different".... :-)

Deck discussion for The Way of the Warriors

Manamorphose is a good option

I had considered that, along with Burning-Tree Emissary. The card draw from Manamorphose would be nice, and mana fixing is never a bad thing. But what would I cut for it?

i would say get rid of those creatures with 5 or more mana costs, add some creature kill (bolt?) , add another cavern, set of manamorphose, decrease lands to 20, and if you have room for creatures, add the ones that are low costs like mirri, the cat warrior =)
