Humans in Magic are usually tall soldiers striding across the field of battle, soldiers and knights decked out with weapons and armor shining in the white bright sun.But they can also be just as nature-loving as Elves or any other green race. Check it out: mono green Humans!
This deck is part of my new "off-color" series, featuring well-known tribes from Magic's history, with a big twist: they're NOT in their traditional color. As I said, Humans are typically associated with white. Indeed, there are more than twice as many Humans in white than in any other color. Blue and red are a distant second and third, followed by black. Though it's not by a wide margin, I was surprised to find that green was in dead last.Surprised because there's so much good synergy, and decent tribal support. Hamlet Captain is obvious, but Mayor of Avabruck and even Deranged Outcast add a lot to Human tribal, and also require no color beyond green. With Burning-Tree Emissary and Magus of the Vineyard, you can quickly mass an army and overpower the opponent. Reverent Hunter becomes a big threat late and Experiment One is an early threat that just keeps growing. Human equipment gives them all some serious reach, and when combined with Nightshade Peddler can turn a couple of your Humans into nearly unstoppable beaters...especially with Wrap in Vigor to keep them all alive. So many fun interactions. You've got Sharpened Pitchfork and Peddler...and Ulvenwald Tracker. (Yeah, just think about all that for a minute.) Mayor is great on his Human side, but even when flipped he combos nicely with Master of the Wild Hunt. Even your lands get in on the fun, with Pendelhaven turning the numerous 1/1s into beefier threats. The sideboard has some great hate against multiple colors (and -1/-1 counters), and a way to clear the skies (Corrosive Gale). What do you think? If you like this unusual color concept, check out my other Off-Color decks, including white Elves (color swapping with Humans!), white Merfolk, blue Zombies, red Vampires, green and black Goblins, and black Humans as well!
