RDW lives! Sure, it's had to evolve a little with the changing times, but it's come out at the other hand with lethal potential....
This is my favorite deck right now. Seriously, it can just hit SO fast. Consider a couple very realistic scenarios that kind of sum it up:Turn 1: Satyr HopliteTurn 2: Madcap Skills, swing for 5Turn 3: Titan's Strength, swing for 9 (plus whatever burn, hasty creature, or other stuff)Turn 4: Almost certain lethal from burn or combatOr perhaps:Turn 1: Satyr Hoplite/Rakdos CacklerTurn 2: Ordeal of Purphoros, swing for 3Turn 3: Swing for 4 + sac Ordeal for 3 damage to the face or a blocker + aura/burn/Titan's Strength for mass damageTurn 4/5: Again, finish them off through a variety of methodsI particularly love the Hoplite/Cackler with Ordeal combo. With Hoplite, it's almost better if you DON'T land it early, as combining it with a same-turn Titan's Strength or another aura means you can immediately get three counters on Hoplite and trigger Ordeal the same turn you play it. Nasty!Even outside of that, hasty Ash Zealot, Chandra's Phoenix, and oft-overlooked Rakdos Shred-Freak provide persistent threats that make fine targets for the auras and Titan's Strength themselves (especially Zealot with its build-in first strike). Shifting back to heroic, Arena Athlete is a nice way to remove blockers...I generally find it more reliable than Firefist Striker in that role.Add in burn to remove troublesome creatures or get in that final damage, Hall of Triumph for mass stat boosting, and Purphoros as a late-game, often-fatal surprise, and this deck has lots of ways to get in damage even if it seemingly stalls right before delivering the killing blow (RDW's biggest problem, amiright?).Just try it. It's well worth it. It's just SO much fun, and almost always lightning fast. And it's friendly on the budget, too!
