Just imagine it: you're walking through the woods, when suddenly a bluish, woolly, pointy-eared bipedal creature runs past and howls at the moon. And then a whole pack of them shows up!No, it's not an April Fools' Day joke...the joke is instead on your opponent as they watch a pack of green whatever-they-ares tear them apart.
This is the first of a short series of decks focused on Changelings. These memorable creatures from Lorwyn are typically used to bolster other races in Magic...tribes that need a few more creatures to fill in the gaps. But since they count as ALL creature types, why not instead make the Changelings themselves the focus and splash in some cards from multiple tribes that all boost those Changelings? For green, the most obvious tribe is Elves. Elvish Archdruid is a great "lord" pumper and also ramps, which is good since most green Changelings cost 4 or 5 mana. But that's really just complementary to the primary, more obscure tribes I focused on here: Wolves and Werewolves. Moonmist and Full Moon's Rise are AWESOME with your Changelings, and Mayor of Avabruck conveniently pumps them whichever side is up (though obviously he himself is at his best when his inner Howlpack Alpha comes out...how nice that Moonmist does that for him!).And wouldn't you know it, Elves and Wolves play together nicely too! Howlpack Alpha makes them, Wren's Run Packmaster makes more and gives them all deathtouch, and Turntimber Ranger makes even more whenever another Ally (read as: Changeling) enters the field...while pumping himself up.Splash in Ezuri, Greatbow Doyen, and Rootgrapple, which all work great with your Changeling army, and you've got a very versatile, powerful, and befuddling deck! Thanks for reading!
