Deck Description

My mission: to create a completely colorless deck that did NOT use Eldrazi, manlands, or "colored" lands. No color ANYWHERE on any of the cards. Getting it done in Modern is just a bonus.

How to Play

No surprise that Myr ended up being the centerpiece. The Battlesphere is pure awesome, the Galvanizers are almost equally so, the Hovermyr are airborne threats and great chump blockers, and the Palladiums and Reservoirs help pay for it all.

But this deck doesn't rely solely on those fun little ankle-biting Myr. The Steel Overseer is a no-duh add in such an artifact-creature-heavy deck, as is Etched Champion. The Wurmcoil Engines are just all kinds of evil fun, and Platinum Angel is NEVER a bad idea, especially when you don't need to use any particular colors to play her.

The deck is not COMPLETELY bereft of Eldrazi stuff: All Is Dust was just too perfect a fit to leave out, and Eldrazi Temple and Eye of Ugin help make its cost more manageable. (The latter also acts as a tutor for any of your creatures...nifty!) The rest of the lands and land-like artifacts generate colorless mana (the Urza lands can generate quite a bit!), and most also have fun side effects like nerfing attacking creatures (Mystifying Maze), bringing your own creatures back from the grave (Myr Reservoir and Buried Ruin), drawing cards (Mikokoro and Dreamstone Hedron), and zapping some of the opponent's dangerous lands (Tectonic Edge).

Could this work? Maybe, though hats off to anyone that's able to try it out for real. I'd be lucky to own HALF these cards, much less all of them. If you're better off than I am, try it out and let me know how it turns out. And certainly let me know anything you think would make it better. Thanks!

Deck discussion for Don't Need No Stinking Colors!

This actually looks really fun. I'm going to proxy it and try it out with my friends to see how it works. Might actually build it if it turns out to be modern competitive.

My only question is, if you're going to go all colorless and mainly artifact based, why not more affinity creatures?

Eh, just seemed too easy, I guess. :-P Same reason I didn't go with the obvious Urza's land trio. I was trying for something really unique. Might turn out it needs some help like that to really compete, and I'm open to it. Only time (and playtesting) will tell!

I would drop 2 all is dust and add 2 expedition map, then drop the quicksands and rogue's passage for vesuvas

also...just found out cloudpost is banned in modern...so maybe it is pointless for my above statement as there is nothing good for vesuva to copy :)

Yeah, realized that too late myself. I have reluctantly added in the Urza land trio. They ARE rather awesome, albeit a bit boring. Also made room for a couple maps to help fetch the lands I need. Thanks!

As for Vesuva, it's a little pricey when Thespian's Stage can basically do the same thing...and repeatedly if necessary. But if I eventually acquire Vesuva I'm sure I could find room for it. ;-)
