Deck Description

Like white weenie decks but can't afford all the popular rares (and Brimaz!) they run with now? Enjoy the idea of Heroic but don't want to build just another Aura deck to make use of it? I might have the answer....

Like my other recent budget decks (see below), this one focuses on real-life cost and strives to keep it around $10. But it also strives to be competitive and squeeze a lot of value out of undervalued cards. These decks may not win you the next Open, but they should turn some heads as you blow through your local FNM...for about the price of the entry fee!

How to Play

Heroic seems like a lot of fun, and most people have (probably wisely) chosen to take advantage of it using all the new Auras we've been handed in the last few sets. While you could certainly still go that route pretty cheaply (many of the best white Auras right now are commons and uncommons), I wanted to do something a bit different by taking advantage of the new white devotion card seemingly nobody is talking about: Acolyte's Reward. Imagine bouncing back 4, 5, or even more damage to an opponent's creature or right to their face when they think they've got an easy attack, block, or kill to one of your weenies? Do it just once and their entire strategy can change. Do I block and risk losing something big? Do I attack or hold back? If you have at least 2 mana free, they have to really think twice and play cautious whether they want to or not.

Thankfully, most of the other creatures and spells here are cheap so we should be able to have that 2 mana free. Most of them also get (or give) +1/+1 counters whenever you target them with Acolyte's Reward or another spell (more on that in a second), or give you more white critters to work with.

And there's much more than just Reward to target them with. A full 16 instants can give your creature the benefits of lifelink, flying, protection, and/or additional strength in addition to their built-in Heroic benefits. And hey, most of them cost 2 mana or less. Your opponent will have no idea what to expect.

The sideboard offers some cheap but devastating creatures for slower games; the mainboard is built more for speed right now. Keening Apparition can be pulled in for more aggro and/or enchantment hate, and additional instants can be used to remove troublesome threats (for 2 or less mana!) or mass protect your guys against board wipes, about the only thing Reward and Gods Willing don't already save them from.

Try it out at FNM sometime, and have fun!

Deck discussion for $10 Budget White Devotion

You should make a deck with 4x Hundred Handed Ones, and 4x Acolyte. Block all Creatures with one of the Hundred Handed Ones, Then bounce back all the damage at the player
