Fast counter, massively draw and Lich's Mirror. Should work against most of the fast decks and the damage/combat-based decks.
Counter and draw until you get Lich's Mirror. With Elite Arcanist you'll have "infinite" counter spells. When Talrand, Sky Summoner comes into play, play as many spells as you can, and hit with many flying 2/2 tokens. And, in the meantime, if you would loose the game... Lich's Mirror... Lol...If you're facing a red deck:Take off >>2 Envelop2 Interupt3 Counter Spell1 FlusterstormPut on <<4 Hydroblast4 Blue Elemental BlastAnd if you're facing demage decks, you should take a look at Suffocation in the sideboard.Depending of your opponet's deck, you may want to put Curse of Echoes in the main deck.

cards that might surprise you vs a red deck: Book Burning, Burning Inquiry, Burning Wish, Hammer of Bogardan, Molten Disaster, Overmaster, Recoup, Stronghold Gambit, The Ultimate Nightmare of Wizards of the Coast, Wake of Destruction, Winds of Change, red elemental blast, siroco. and there are other fun cards for red that will make ya say wtfovermaster is probly your biggest threat if facing a true oldschool red player though

Sure.. Overmaster f**ks with any counter deck.. But it's only worth against counter decks, never saw anyone playing with that card.
Good as a counter and deffinently worthy of note but I think you should put in some win condition. Like Time Wave or Temporal Mastery to exile and recast every turn or some milling effect. Blue sun zenith is something I personally would take over Read the Runes any day. Putting in something like 1-2 Jace Erasure or Vaultskirge imp would do quite a bit for this deck i feel, or even Jace's Archevist. You could put in Fog bank could deal with pesky things as could unsummoning them and countering them. Devastation Tide is also good for getting rid of things allready in the table. I'm a big fan of Lich's mirror myself and use it on the offensive but since this is a "no, you don't" deck maybe Azor's Elocutors just to be annoying?But even with all this on how I would reforge it, you still have a solid deck;)
Like the Temporal Mastery suggestion, i'm just afraid to loose focus putting a card with that cost and having to take some out.I Personally prefer Read The Runes than Blue Sun's Zenith in this case... When running with low mana, or to leave some lands up for counters...Now let's talk about Jace's Archivist... I almost put it in the deck. But I realized that even if my opponent doesn't have any cards in hand, if I use it's ability, he will draw anyway. Besides, I prefer to use instant or sorcery to do this, cuz Talrand, Sky Summoner have more chances to put flying tokens in play. By the cost of Azor's Elocutors and Devastation Tide I cast Lich's mirror and gain "one more game" to win. And I made this deck specially to work against damage decks, so Azor's Elocutors wouldn't work so well. It could get killed, or have counters removed. But it's a nice card, never saw before.Another Card I didn't know is Jace's Erasure. F**k lilked it. xD I was looking for some card with cool draw consequences.. With this one plus Lich's Mirror, the opponent will draw his deck out while I'm drawing and reshuffling. Great tip.=]

The reason I suggested Azor's Elocutors was that you have so many counterspells I doupt it would ever be touched.Temporal mastery was ment to be exiled with Elite Arcanist but I diddn't see the X cost (I was thinking of Panoptic Mirror). In which case I would suggest running Isochron Scepter instead of the Arcanist as allmost every spell you have costs two or less (going infinite = Isochron Scepter + Final Fortune + Sundial of the infinite in case you're ever in that place:P). For not infinite, but quite a few extra turns to win with, you can considder Lighthouse Chronologist, I'll also quote the his oracle here "15.06.2010 The effects of multiple level 7 Lighthouse Chronologists are cumulative. If you control two of them in a two-player game, you'll take three turns for each turn your opponent takes."Sadly, he only levels as a Sorcery.I understand very well Jace's Archivist though. Jace erasure works well with Read the runes or anything that makes you draw cards for that matter. It was part of a "set". The set was Jace's Archevist, Jace Erasure, Mind unbound, "any" Jace planeswalker and Blue sun Zenith.As for Read the Runes and having mana open; Blue Sun Zenith is instant so you will ALLWAYS cast it at the end of your opponents turn and maybe leave 1 mana open for counters but you don't really NEED the re-use on it in this deck so i can see why you're a bit scheptical. If you ever decide to go for Talarand hard I recommend cycling cards without the actual cycling mechanic. your end step never happens so yes, wheel pluss sundial pluss isachron will give unlimited turns. Your opponent will never act. It's more or less the same as imprinting "Silence" and casting it at the begining of their turn every turn except they can't trigger dredge, lay down lands, etc.
