Well i though of this deck when Champions of Kamigawa came out and it just sort of evolved from there. Correctly played spirits don't stay down for long. Once you can maintain the +1/+1 counters your phantoms can handle alot of direct damge
Basic mechanism of this deck is Iname, Death Aspect and Living Death. After you play Iname, Death Aspect you can trim the creatures out of your deck, personally i reccomend at least leaving in revenant. The reason i use phantom creatures in this deck is to take incoming damage from things like fireball or mass creature rushing.
