Deck Description

This deck is built around Medomai the Ageless and Aurelia, the Warleader. The goal is to trigger Medomai's ability with warleader to get 2-4 turns for free and trigger Ral Zarek's final ability too to get even more free turns. Key concept is just getting turns and finish them off that way.

How to Play

There are a few win conditions in this deck.

1) Medomai with Aurellia and Boros Charm to get free turns
2) Phuphoros, God of the Forge paired with Assemble the Legion

There are control in this deck to help to delay until you can get your combo set up. Also, this deck is designed to recycle through your library very quick with Thassa and Prognostic Sphinx by scrying constantly THEN using the Bident to draw the cards you want/need.

Burnished Hart is used to mana ramp you a little to get lands out faster but can also block for you and sac'ing at the same time. Supreme Verdict, Cyclonic Rift, and Mizz Mortar are there to control the battlefield. Dissolve is to stop any counters or any threats to your Medomai sphinx.

I picked Prognostic Sphinx because of the discard ability to gain hexproof. The sphinx is very overpowered when coupled with the bident.

you could add hammer of purphosus to speed up the attack for your sphinxs. also, aqueous form can make your prognostic sphinx unblockable, so you can get guarantees for the scry and draw.

Also, if you didn't know, you can Boros Charm Medomai to give him double strike to give you two turns.

Yeah, that's the idea behind Boros Charm. It also helps to survive Supreme Verdicts if necessary. I like the flexibility of the charm.

I managed to get four turns from Medomai with Boros Charm and Aurelia, the Warleader. But it usually kills the player when I get to that point as the damage is 28 by Medomai and Aurelia alone. haha

I don't know, I'm trying to test this deck against all sorts of deck types. I feel that mono red deck types will beat this. Need to find someone that has one like it and test it.

If it does well against most decks, I can see it going up but need to get it in the tournaments.

Like aggro mono red? Just sideboard some detention sphere's or oblivion rings, or far // away, azorius charm to return their aggro creatures to their hands. Or are you talking burn?

Well, I think both. Burn (especially with fire god) and aggro mono red would probably get me. I could sideboard more detention sphere's. Oblivion Rings is no longer standard and more of the charm.

Oh shit... it's not in standard? SHIT... brb sideboarding. But yeah I would add something that could keep you alive like cyclonic rift or something.

I actually really like the idea of Midrange America; I want to build one with the Theros set out now, and I think that this is a pretty good example of what Im wanting to do. I dont know about using Medomai though... Hes really cool though. Free turns just turn a deck into an unstoppable force; Especially when you are playing in Standard.

Anyway; Maybe Sideboard(As said above) Detention Sphere, Probably another Supreme Verdicts, Azorious Charm and then maybe the new Elspeth? Probably not; Jace, AoT would work too; Since I like how he plays against Aggro and even Late-Mid game with the deck.

Yeah, I'm reconsidering Medomai but more importantly, maybe warleader because I realized that I tend to kill the opponent before I could even get my free turns. I'm also considering removing Ral and put what you suggested, like Elspeth as she works very nicely with the fire god or even Jace as you suggested as well to lower their damage.

Gotta experiment.

Well, I do have to admit that I'm having a little trouble understanding that specific card's ability because if I copy Medomai's effect or even Aurelia's effect, it wouldn't work because of the naming issue that's in the text. The only thing I could see it working for is Ral Zarek's abilities.

Perhaps you can tell me how I can make it work with other cards?

pls someone correct me if i am wrong it basically works like doublestrike in the sence that you just trigger the ability again.

edit: i rly wana gives this deck a try but the lands are a pain to come by :P
