Vampire nocturnus is not necessary. I've been finding I don't need it, not until it comes up in a booster pack or something. I'm not gonna spend that kind of money on a card I don't need. I suggest building a vampire deck. They're well rounded and have few weaknesses, like enchantments. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=62002 I've played that^ for a couple weeks now, I'm pretty stoked on it. creature removal and minor lifedrain early-game until I get enough vamps out for a sweeping blow.

http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=62002 That's what I use. It's missing a couple things, I'd like another Blade of the Bloodcheif, another doom blade, Sorin, etc. But it's run surprisingly well so far.
Get rid of the basilisk collars, exchange for one more blade of the bloodchief.
Bloodchief ascension. Get it. It's amazing. And if you're doing ANY damage with your vampire creatures, get 1 or 2 blade of the bloodchief. It's possibly one of the most powerful equips when used in a creature-removal vampire deck.
Tokens can be sweet, but they should do something while they're out there. You could try switching all the saproling tokens for elves. And then grabbing Nissa. You gain life equal for every elf token.
Manaproducing creatures. 'Nuff said.
I like the enchantment idea for spiders. Thank you : ) Will keep in mind as I make my spiderdeck. -Chomps_.
Watch your mana cost on spells. Certain things like diabolic tutor cost too much for what they give. If you find a spell you want but it costs too much, look for alternatives. As for planeswalkers, 90% of vamp decks should go for sorin instead of liliana if they're putting in a planeswalker at all. -Chomps_.
