Originally these elves powered a fireball casting deck. I decided I wanted to get dragons out as fast as possible, and decided to apply the same mana-ramp mechanic to them. The result on my first test run was dual Utvaras and a Crucible of Fire on Turn 5. In essence. Elves summon dragons. Dragons set fire to the world. Enjoy.Update:With the realization of the power of Primal Surge, much of the deck got changed. It now runs with the idea of ramping to Surge (turn 4 or 5 possible), let that put out a ton of your deck for you, and attack with way more than your opponent can handle.2021 update:Swapped out a few cards (evolving wilds for actual dual lands), a few one off enchantments and creatures. This deck is now capable of near infinite combat turns in a single round with exponential hasted dragons on each subsequent combat (had this go off during live play).
The method of playing this deck used to be "Ramp with elves to dragons, eat everything." That's not quite the case now.Now it's either ramp to Fireball for mega damage, or ramp to Primal Surge. Surge is the preferred route. Most ideal layout can get you to 10 mana on turn 4 easy (4 lands, 2 llanowar elves, 1 channeler or archdruid, and any other elf). With that 10 mana, set out primal surge and watch it go to work. For those who aren't entirely aware of it's power, it lets you put permanents into the battlefield until you exile a non-permanent during the process, or until you choose not to put a permanent on to the field. As only 1/11th of this deck is non-permanents, the chances of you getting a bunch of cards out for what is now a measly 10 mana is pretty good. If Fervor gets put out during this, then you've got them on that turn. Enjoy. So pop it, let your deck vomit forth, and then hit your opponent for way more than he can handle.
