Deck Description

Phyrexia is hell. A horrible hell full of horrible creatures. Where they make plagues... And burn things.

So an infect deck without blue or green. Sorry Mimeoplasm, you're not the only commander who can down with the sickness.

idea here is to hit your opponents with many creatures that will make them sick. Then watch them die.

Deck discussion for Burning Plague

I have been wanting to use Swamp Mosquito. Other than that you have me in a bind and all I can say is sorry that I am not much help with this deck either.

Ha, no bigs man. I was in the same boat with the mosquito. I was looking at building a xira insect deck, and the card has been buzzing around in my head since then.

Blightsteel Colossus + Brute Force. Fireshrieker? Flame Slash. Tragic Slip. Surgical Extraction was an awesome choice dude A+ on that one. Wither creatures? Double Cleave!

I avoided bloghtsteel as a courtesy to the table. The guy is just a jerk. Fire shrieker is a good add, and heck it even fits in with the name and theme. Flame slash and tragic slip are good removal spells to get my guys through, and I may need to consider adding some more of that. And double cleave is a great one shot to tack onto a pumped creature.

I considered wither creatures, but they really didn't fit with the theme. The phyrexians were infect and poison counters. I stuck with stuff that specifically addressed that.

I'm assuming the surgical extraction comment was meant to be facetious, since it is a horrible commander card. If that is the case, that is not helpful if someone does not actually know that. So assuming it was not intended to be an insulting comment, and only a jest, toss a "j/k" or something on there so people know. And as to why I put it in at all, just wanted another phyrexian mana symbol for an early version that had rage extractor. Didn't work so well, the card got left in the list when I was putting stuff in.

Agreed the colossus would be a great add, although I am not sure why the + brute force. All it takes is 10 poison to kill in edh so idk. I am with you on the fireshrieker that is decent. Can't use double cleave in this deck because the w/r mana cost of the cleave, his general is black and red those are the only colors that can appear on mana symbols of cards he adds to the deck. For more info on rules of edh, go to a search engine and type in edh rules that should help if you want to know more about edh. Could go with assault strobe instead, that would work. I will agree with you to a certain extent that surgical extraction is good in the deck but it will only get rid of one card from the grave and other places so, it's kinda meh.

I actually didn't mean Surgical Extraction as an insult. I forgot this was EDH and got excited! I apologize for that dude. Consider Takklemaggot and/or Crumbling Ashes.

A lot of groups (mine included) raise the poison count in commander to a higher number. We play 16 if I remember correctly.

Drop Surgical Extraction and add in Tormod's Crypt? And of course I'm not too too familiar with EDH rules since I haven't played it much. I do have a deck though: http://www.mtgvault.com/systemscsnake/decks/infect-commander/

Okay system snake I will check out you deck later, it's about 15 till midnight where I am so I am bout to go to sleep. I really like the crumbling ashes but I have a question about it what if a creature has more than one minus minus counter on it. The card specifically says one counter, would the counters be considered separate, individual counters. Idk if that even makes sense but what I am trying to say is what if a creature has more than one counter on it and you wanted to destroy that creature, could you?

No problem snake. It is a great card in other formats! It's practically a free lobotomy in the right deck. Almost makes me miss playing non-commander formats.

And I like crumbling ashes a ton! That's some fun stuff. I'm not as sold on the maggot, p though in a commander game he would add some fun chaos. I might look at adding him to my xira deck

@richter1 Yes you can. The reason being is because they are individual counters, just multiples of them. Crumbling Ashes applies, and it's mandatory so you would have to.

In that case I will be trading for the ashes and I will be brewing a minus minus counter deck as soon as I get finished with the other decks I have in my brain that I need to finish.

i thought 15 poison damage is required for edh?

Nope that's not the way it works, but I don't remember anyone in my playgroup getting a win by poison. So what I am saying is I could be wrong but I think it's 10 poison damage is all it takes ftw in edh.

officially in the edh rules there is no change to the poison rules, so it is ten. However a lot of groups raise it because a group of 4 people could potentially get a lot of poison counters.

Yeah facing off against 4 poison edh decks could get out of hand really quickly.
