"The game is up." William Shakespeare, CymbelineTrying to be original. I love literature and Flavor Text...so, I thought, I wonder how many William Shakespeare quotations can be found throughout Mtg? The answer is: 21cards. 4 white, 5 blue, 4 black, 2 red, and 6 green. 6 Creatures, 4 Enchantments, 7 Instants, and 4 Sorcery cards. This is my attempt at using as many cards in Mtg, that have Flavor Text from William Shakespeare's plays. At least give me credit for trying something different. Going to go with Blue/Green. And see where it takes me :)Sideboard has the remaining cards that have William Shakespeare quotes as their Flavor Text.
Win Condition:1) Wake Thrasher/Early Harvest combo. Thrasher can be a 15/13 Trample creature on Turn 3. 2) Wolverine Pack/Rancor combo (back up). Tidings for draw power.Naturalize for Artifact/Enchantment.Boomerang for disruption of tempo and combos.Winter Blast for stall/creature hate/to make your creatures go through unblocked.Arbor Elf/Utopia Sprawl/Early Harvest provides mana ramp while pumping up Wake Thrasher. Final Thoughts: 22 cards with William Shakespeare Flavor Text...not too shabby. Deck is casual and under 40 dollars.

Tell me what you think...at least points for being original, right? Whom next, Yeats, Blake, Edgar Allan Poe, Dante, Faulkner?

This is next level, just cascading with Flavor my Dood. Nicely done.
Thanks. My favorite is Edgar Allan Poe...but alas, there are only 5 cards in Mtg with Poe Flavor Text.
toil and trouble fire burn and cauldron bubble- macbethmy favuorite however is measure for measure
This is very, very cool. I don't really have much else to say...Very cool man. This gets the SWN stamp of approval (Which I guess is a...smiley face? I dunno).
Thanks...but do you think it can actually win a game every once in awhile, that is the hardest thing to do with a theme deck...make it to where it has a chance at winning. I wanted to do an Edgar Allan Poe deck...but there were only 5 cards!I still say a Literary EDH deck could be done. Do you have a favorite writer? Writers?
I would definitely pay for an EDH deck like that!
Murasaki shikibu, the very first modern novelist
No cards with quotes by him. Just checked.Anyone else?
Ahem murasaki was a Japanese women
Her...sorry. I didn't know women knew how to read or write! *Snicker*Regardless, she is not in Mtg. Anyone else?
Bram stoker?
Naturalize, Arbor Elf and, of course, Firestorm Phoenix are my favorites! I love this idea, dear...
"Doubt thou the stars are fire;Doubt that the sun doth move;Doubt truth to be a liar; But never doubt I love"from HamletI be wooing the Magic girls with Shakespeare, yo!
Using Shakespeare for romantic lines is akin to naming a boat the Titanic. Bad juju.
Jens is right, that shit is some powerful juju
very original and creative great idea I love it u should build that edh
Surewhynot suggested that too.I could look up lots and lots of authors and see what list I could come up with.If I do that, would you be interested in the list? You are very good at making EDH decks. So...if I gave you a list of cards with Flavor Texts from famous authors, I am sure you could come up with something good!
I could try but im not very good with themes like that
They are very tricky...especially if you try to make the deck not look forced. Any famous authors, that you like in particular? I'll start on a list soon.
mabey yu should try to use artists not writers. that seems to be a more consistent, and far more easily attainable deck.
Thank you. I wanted to try and do something a little original/different :)I have a list of several famous authors, that I want to make into a list. An EDH Flavor Text Author deck.I have about 60 cards searched out that apply to the theme.
your welcome :)
this is completely off topic but, dose anyone have some pointers for how to make a good Rakdos aggro? I'm trying to make one and I'm not sure that I'm doing the best job. Please help me :'(
Do a Deck Search with term "Rakdos" Many decks will pop up. Check out a few of them.
Pop the link below man. Maybe we can also take a look, give some ideas...
Ok here is the link, have at it boys! http://www.mtgvault.com/whitelord/decks/burn-trial-1/
(and girls, sorry ;) )
Nice. It is intriguing
Really, really like this deck just because of the idea. +1
Thanks. Check out a few of my other decks. I really try very hard to make original/different/unique/themed decks. I have a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle deck.A Lions, Tigers, Bears Oh my deck. And a few others. I would love for someone to make a Literary EDH deck. A deck with nothing but cards that have famous author flavor text. I am making a list. Have about 60 cards on the list, by various famous authors.
Shakespeare is the bomb. Nice idea!
happy 900 anniversary of Shakespeare's Death/birthday, everyone!
