Deck Description

Lifeline.
Deranged Hermit.

Idea is to get Lifeline in play and any creature.
Then play Deranged Hermit. Do not pay Echo. It goes to graveyard. End of turn, it comes back to play, and it gets more squirrel tokens. 8 2/2 Squirrel Tokens per turn.

How to Play

Use stuff like Arc Blade and Forked Bolt to kill my own creatures like Keldon Marauders, Hermit, War Marshal while Lifeline is in play.

Example 1) Mogg Fanatic and Deranged Hermit. Play Hermit, get 4 tokens. Sack Fanatic to nuke Hermit. Both come back onto the battlefield (with Lifeline). I get 4 more tokens. Sack Fanatic to nuke Hermit. Both come back onto the battlefield. Do that once every turn. Result = 1 damage to the opponent and 8 2/2 squirrels.

Example 2) Have Mogg War Marshal and Deranged Hermit. Play Hermit, get 4 2/2 tokens. Play Mogg War Marshal, get a 1/1 goblin token. Now play Forked Bolt on War Marshal (he goes to graveyard and you get another 1/1 goblin token) and Deranged Hermit. They go the grave, but since you have Lifeline in play, they come back into play granting you another 1/1 goblin token and 4 more 2/2 squirrel tokens. Result = 3 1/1 goblin creatures and 8 2/2 squirrel tokens.

*********************************************************************************

High Market. Look at that beauty with Lifeline. Sack a creature, gain a life, it comes back into play. So. Have Linkline in play (along with another creature). Play Deranged Hermit. Bring in 4 tokens. Sack Deranged Hermit to High Market, gaining you 1 life. Now, Hermit comes back into play and you get 4 more tokens. Next turn sack the Hermit to gain another life and 4 more tokens.

High Market can be used with any of the creatures with built in triggered abilities.

Night Soil. This card spoils my opponent from using Lifeline against me. Simply exile all of my opponent's creatures in his graveyard, and get 1/1 tokens to spare.

Nature's Spiral and Junk Diver gets back Lifeline from your graveyard.

Deck discussion for Squirrels call from Lifeline

Main issue...or one of them...i originally had the idea to use cards that (like Wrath of God) that nukes every person's creatures. But that would not work with Lifelink, it needs one creature to stay in the game.

Maybe use something like Cloudshift on one of my creatures. Then Play something like Wrath of God...nuking every creature in play. Then return my creature back into play. Lifelink activates, and all of my creatures come back from the graveyard activating all of their "comes into play" abilities.

Cloudshift, when played, would also retrigger Deranged Hermit (if targeted) into producing 4 more squirrel tokens.

The Curio and the Sneak Attack are in the sideboards.
I think they could probably break this deck..but not where to put them...or if i even want to try to put them in. Not to mention that Sneak Attack is outrageous!! And Curio has been used to death, lately.

And along the ideas of Cloudshift/Wrath of God.
I could use creatures like Penumbra Bobcat. Wrath of God would kill all creatures, but Bobcat would become a token creature, and Lifelink would trigger and I would get all of my creatures back into play.

i think that being overrun be squirrels is just fine for a win condition. Also, I think that a good name for this deck would be 'Attack of the Killer Squirrels'!

Yeah, i think it can work.

Check out my lineline-based deck. i think lifeline is under-used for it's potential.

got a card to work similar to Wrath. divine reckoning. :) each player chooses a creature they control and then destroys all the others. so you would wipe out most of the board, and leave your self a creature still to activate lifeline.

I could take it black. I am awful with that color.
But it could be done.

Better break the news early to you:
Please read errata of Lifeline. It only works on creatures that "die" which is new-speak for "goes to the graveyard FROM PLAY". So, creatures you discard to Firestorm, Book Burning etc. or Streetwraiths you cycle will NOT come back!

The positive thing about this: Lots of open slots now :P

I don't have much time and therefore will just fling some card names at you:
* Spike Feeder (Bottle Gnomes)
* Apprentice Necromancer
* Fallen Angel (Fallen Ideal)
* Altar of Dementia
* Ball Lightning
* Rage Thrower
* Blood Artist
* Warstorm Surge
* Goblin Bombardement
* Bloodshot Cyclops

Off-colour but really strong with Lifeline:
* Brion Stoutarm
* Glen Elendra Archmage

How about Solemn Simulacrum, has both an ETB and LTB ability. Thragtusk would be good too.

Solemn Simulacrum looks really promising. Just not sure what to take out though.

I would think that you could remove the Junk Divers and 1 Night Soil to add either the Solemn Simulacrums or the Thragtusks. I would also consider reusable sacrificing, moreso that spells. Something like Blasting Station would be perfect. Think about it, if you have multiple creatures coming into play at the end of turn, you get that many triggers of the untap ability. You can spam a bunch of damage at the end of turn using that card.

0
Posted 31 July 2014 at 20:59

Permalink

Simple example. Your Deranged Hermit comes back into play form Lifeline at the end of turn. Putting 5 untap triggers on the stack. You then sacrifice a creature before the untap ability resolves, this would be done 5 times at the end of turn for 5 damage. The Deranged Hermit would then come back into play at the next end step, the next turn from Lifeline. Rinse, Repeat.

I already suggested Goblin Bombardement which works a lot easier and versatile than Blasting Station (it's also one mana cheaper). WIth that you don't have to wait for something to hit play, you can sac at any time as much as you wish. Did you even look at all the cards I suggested, Jessie?

Absolutely, friend.
I want to play test it as is, though. :)
Promise, I did look at your cards. Because I know you spend a lot of time trying to help me out.

Not this time :) - that was just brainstorming. I just wonder why you consider Blasting Station instead of Goblin B.

I did not even know about goblin bombardment. That is definitely the better card for this deck. Nice suggestion.

In answer to the last line of How to Play: I am pretty sure that Lifeline only effects its controller, not the whole board.

FINALLY. I get to tell Kazzong the ruling on a card! :)

10/4/2004: It works for all players and has errata to remove the "your graveyard" text.

Thus, you need Night Soil to keep their graveyard empty.

Lifeline is amazing, I think more people should try to do something with it. I know a lot of my decks has more likes that this one...and this deck hasn't been tested...i still think it has huge potential! I see, maybe in some games, where you could have 30 or 40 squirrel and goblin tokens. And all the tokens can chump block, be attackers, be objects that your opponent has to remove. I am very excited about this one. Everyone else, for the most part, thinks it needs a lot of work. I however, think it may be a diamond among the rough.

Imagine blocking with a Deranged Hermit, for example, and it dies. It comes right back into play with 4 more Squirrel tokens.

Or imagine Keldon. Comes into play, does 1 damage to your opponent...it then chumps block their creature killing both their creature and your Keldon, which does 1 more damage to your opponent. Then it comes right back into play due to Lifeline and does 1 more damage to your opponent. Outcome, 3 damage to your opponent, their creature killed, and your creature back in play.

Mogg War Marshal, same deal. Comes into play, you get a 1/1 creature. You chump block with him killing/blocking their creature and the Mogg. It leaves play and you get another 1/1 creature. He comes back into play with Lifeline. Outcome, Mogg is in play and you still have 3 goblins in play as well.

Lifeline in your graveyard, just chump block with Junk Diver. Get the Lifeline back. Or Nature's Spiral.

I think the deck is very tricky against other creature decks. Hell, you don't even really need the Arc Lightning or Forked Bolt to nuke your own creatures...they can chump block themselves into being replayed. But they are their to be able to nuke your own creatures, if need be.

0

Permalink

And the more I chump block with my creatures the more of their creatures I kill. Mine comes back, triggering more creatures. And with their creatures in their graveyard (from being chumped blocked), I just use Night Soil and get more 1/1 tokens for myself.

Again, not to toot my own whistle (really only to do so because so many people think it is still very much in the rough stages)...but this deck has a lot of potential.

I see. :) that makes sense then. the Vault needs to update their rules text for this card stating the new(ish?) ruling. :)

and yes, this deck does look very good. :) would love to see it in action.

only suggestion that I might make is to swap it out for scavenging ooze. it can exile single cards instead of having to be 2 creatures. (bonus 1 life and a +1/+1 counter for a creature.) but it takes G to do it instead of 1. so there is a trade off I guess.

something to possibly consider.

I do think this is a great idea, however it might be hard to pull off at times. But if you get the first group of squirrels out then you know it might as well be over unless somehow they can stop it
