Mutant Ninja Turtle in Magic!

by Jessie on 24 June 2014

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (15 cards)

Creatures (6)

Instants (3)

Artifacts (2)

Land (4)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

Here, for your viewing pleasure, is how to get a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle in Magic the Gathering!

1st. Master Biomancer (turns creatures into mutants when they come into play)
2nd. Horned Turtle (now a mutated turtle)
3rd. Sakashima's Student (clones the mutant turtle and turns him into a Ninja).

You now have your very own 3/6 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.
Your opponent, if he knows what is good for him, forfeits the game!

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Heroes in a half-shell
Turtle power!

They're the world's most fearsome fighting team (We're really hip!)
They're heroes in a half-shell and they're green (Hey - get a grip!)
When the evil Shredder attacks
These Turtle boys don't cut him no slack!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Splinter taught them to be ninja teens (He's a radical rat!)
Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines (That's a fact, Jack!)
Raphael is cool but crude (Gimme a break!)
Michaelangelo is a party dude (Party!)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Heroes in a half shell
Turtle power!"

Yeah, I just sang that out loud!

How to Play

Perfect case scenario:

Turn 1. Forest. Birds of Paradise.
Turn 2. Island. Play Sapphire Medallion.
Turn 3. Forest. Play Master Biomancer and Rancor.
Turn 4. Island. Play Horned Turtle THEN Sakashima's Student.
Turn 5. Forest. Overwhelming Stampede

Outcome is:
4/4 Master Biomancer pumped up to 9/9 with trample (Overwhelming Stampede)
5/8 (Mutant) Horned Turtle pumped up to 10/13 with trample
5/8 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pumped up to 10/13 with trample

Of course this is in a perfect world, perfect draws, perfect hand, with no disruption from opponent.

Edit: Anubis recommended, if the going gets tough (i.e. Shredders shows his ugly face) I need a back up plan to get Master Splinter.
So I sideboarded Sewer Rats. Also added City of Brass/Lotus Petals to get my black mana.

Deck discussion for Mutant Ninja Turtle in Magic!

Advice welcome!

For fun and casual, mostly.

A deck, that if you take it out, will be a talking point at your local Magic shop!

Replace with what?
The Birds?

Yeah, no. Birds of Paridise are more effective in the deck

Birds is very easy to remove...but more effective.
I side boarded the Spirit Guide.

Would consider using Spirit Guide...but using both Lull and Temporal Spring for trying to keep tempo advantage/answers to threats.

Defense of the Heart. Did you guys see that classic? I am hoping my opponent is running creatures in their decks because Defense of the Heart could be a game changer in this deck. He can get you 2 of the 3 cards of the Turtle Combo in play, if your opponent is playing lots of creatures.

Fyi:
Is Turtleshell Changeling already considered a Mutant Ninja Turtle...if he is all creature types?
Just throwing that out there.

I now have to make a black Ninja deck and call it "The Foot Clan"
Then we can have a Duel deck!

Actually laughed out loud at that one!
Nice!

Heard they are doing, yet another, new movie.
The old school stuff was awesome!
I remember getting up early every Saturday morning to watch the TV show.

For nostalgia alone, I am hoping this one gets a lot of votes/support :)

There's also a new cg cartoon on Nickelodeon. It's pretty amazing. I don't think the new movie looks all that great, but that's just me.

I second that, the new movie looks to be crap!! They are aliens, or something like that? It appears that way!

Hey Jess how do you know their teenagers they could be in their 50s or they could be 2

ROFL

FYI
Nice I like the concept and it seems fun as long as your opponent doesn't disrupt it and I liked it

The deck was originally called, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and I changed it to "Mutant Ninja Turtle" for that very reason. :P I knew someone clever would come along and point out what you did, Apez. lol

Yeah, this is mainly a cute themed deck. I mean, to have one 3/6 Mutant Ninja Turtle in play, you end up having to play 3 different cards that cost a total of 11 mana. A 3/6 creature that cost 11 mana/3 cards isn't going to win you a lot of games.

But, come on, it is a Mutant Ninja Turtle!!!

lol. Right on. Point taken. Not sure if they have a blue or green rat, but I will look into it!

Sideboard it, if nothing else!

As your name says, it is all about style!

:)

Lets be honest ninjastyle, rat ninja is an easy fix ... Coming up with this theme and getting a mutant ninja turtle on the field was a little more difficult. I'm sure we can let that slide.

1

thats besides the point. without their rat ninja leader, the turtles would never become ninjas. Flavor, man. its important

I hear you. Point taken. I edited the "How to Play" section and my sideboard.

Added City of Brass/Lotus Petal for black mana.
Added Skullsnatcher and Sewer Rats.

So, if the Turtles are in a bind, in comes Master Splinter! :)
Hope you like!

I'd replace Lull with Fog. And considering you have more green spells than blue, I'd swap out a couple of the Sapphire Medallions for Emerald Medallions. If nothing else, it would help with Master Biomancer and Overwhelming Stampede. All in all, it looks like a fun, creative deck. It definitely takes me back.

1
Posted 30 June 2014 at 19:27

I can't do those changes, Anubis
Here is why.

If I took out Lull and added Fog, my mana base would look like this:
1 mana cards=11
2 mana cards=4

With Lull in the deck (and not Fog)
1 mana cards=8
2 mana cards=7

I originally went with Fog...but added in Lull so that the mana curve would be better (plus it has cycle...letting you get to your teenage mutant ninja turtle cards faster).
I got to stick with Lull.

And Sapphire Medallion versus Emerald Medallion.
I need 3 cards to get my Teenage Mutant Turtle, right?
ALL 3 OF THOSE CARDS HAVE BLUE MANA IN THEM.

Without Sapphire Medallion in play, the 3 cards cost 11 total mana.
With Sapphire Medallion in play, the 3 cards cost 8 mana. Much cheaper.

Without Emerald Medallion in play, the 3 cards cost 11 total mana.
With Emerald Medallion in play, the 3 cards cost 10 mana.

8 mana versus 10 mana for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.
8 mana wins.

I do thank you for looking into the deck, and suggesting changes Anubis!!
Thank you!
If there is any decks, of yours, that I can look at, just let me know!

Perhaps swan song/beast within for control which also helps out defense of the heart when you need it to? Or forbidden orchard iono i just like that card, gonna go cook up a homebrew with defense of the heart right meow

Defense of the Heart is very nice. It was always popular, including when it first came out. All kinds of stuff to do with it! But yes, Forbidden Orchard would rock with it! I will one up your comment on that brilliant notice!

The above cards that you mentioned also go good with a Tolarian Entrancer deck, my friend. Give your opponent creatures with Swan Song/Beast Within/Forbidden Orchard AND THEN steal them when Entrancer attacks. Fun stuff.

With Defense of the Heart, the sky is the limit. Check out Twilight Shepherd, Hunted Troll, Varchild's War-Riders. Rhox/Spearbreaker Behemoth, Hunted Dragon, It that Betrays, Emrakul. Etc etc.

Or you could simply use it to get you the 2 of the 3 creatures needed to make a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle!
I mean, seriously, what is It that Betrays and Emrakul compared to a Teeneage Mutant Ninja Turtle?!

Turtle Power!!

"One, two, three, four! One, two, three, four!
Here comes The Ninja Turtles!"

Too bad that I'm too young that I could have enjoyed those classic ninja turtles...

But still I really like the deck. I once came up with this idea with my friend, but we abandoned it since we couldn't figure out any way that it could have worked properly. It seems that you succeeded at least better than me and him.

Another deck well done.

As you have seen in my last few decks...flashy combo decks I can do pretty well. Theme decks, yep, can make them as good as anyone else...Standard however...I suck at.

Made my first standard deck in 12 years.
Please, comment on it. Need lots of help.
Challenged myself and made the entire deck out of M15 cards.
