Deck Description

Eidolon of the Great Revel is seeing a lot of game play in Legacy Burn Decks.
I wanted to try and do something a little different with it.

Deck Description: A deck that tries to hide behind Eidolon of the Great Revel and Pyrostatic Pillar, as your opponent kills himself.

*********************************************************************************

How to Play

Eidolon of the Great Revel and Pyrostatic Pillar
They force everyone to take 2 damage each time they play a spell that cost 3 mana or less.

I am going to play stuff like Kor Firewalker, Sphere of Law, and Story Circle to bypass the damage.

So, Eidolon and Pyrostatic punishes my opponent for playing spells, but not me.

And you are going to want to stack the Eidolon and Pyrostatic.
2 Eidolon/Pyrostatic in play = opponent is going to lose 4 life for every spell (converted cost of 3 mana or less) he cast.
3 Eidolon/Pyrostatic in play = opponent is going to lose 6 life for every spell (converted cost of 3 mana or less) he cast.
4 Eidolon/Pyrostatic in play = opponent is going to lose 8 life for every spell (converted cost of 3 mana or less) he cast.

And I can keep playing Eidolon and Pyrostatics over and over, without losing damage, because of the Kor Firewalker, Sphere of Law, and Story Circle.

Assemble the Legion is deceptively strong. Around Turn 5, when you play it, your opponent will be losing around 4 life every spell he cast, and I will bring a 1/1 creature at him, every turn. They will be increasingly difficult to deal with if he can't play spells to kill them, without taking damage himself.

Browbeat. Another interesting card in this deck. A normal opponent would just take the 5 damage and prevent me from drawing cards, right? If he picks to lose 5 life, thought, that is just less spells he can afford to cast later.

Enlightened Tutor. Gets me the Enchantment that I need. IF i need protection from Eidolon and/or Pyrostatics, I can fetch Story Circle/Sphere of Law. IF i need more Eidolon and/or Pyrostatics, I can fetch them too.

I have very important life gain cards in: Kor Firewalker and Lighting Helix.
As my opponent is casting spells/creatures, and taking damage for doing so, I will be building up my Eidolon/Pyrostatics and Story Circle/Sphere of Law, so HE WILL get some damage through to me. To gain the life back, and not die, Kor Firewalker and Lightning Helix will save the game.

Story Circle can be used on myself, for protection of red OR can be used against my opponent preventing him from doing damage to me. You hide behind it while my opponent kills himself.

My Win Cards: Boros Charm, Lighting Bolt, Lighting Helix. Once my opponent has about killed himself from casting spells...I seal the deal by blasting him away with direct damage spells.

Nice work. If you want my dastardly opinion, Gisela or Curse of Bloodletting would be downright hilarious. Hell, maybe even Darien. You simply must sideboard Ash Zealot. Golgari will cry.

Vexing devil would fit the deck's flavor greatly. Oh, and Boros Fury-Shield might save your ass against green ramp, or even better, infect. If you redirect a kill-shot from an infect deck on turn 3, your name will be legendary.

Finally ... you ever hear of balefire liege? Guess who's in my aristocrat deck. That card is downright cruel with assemble the legion.

All excellent cards.
They now make up my entire sideboard!

Balefire Liege against Deathbringer Liege...interesting!!

Are you bringing Battlegate Mimic along for the fun?

Legion's Initiative could be your other Rare.

Scourge of the Nobilis?

Looking forward to it!

Hmm ... how bout Agrus Kos? In all seriousness, I'm having trouble choosing a rare. Legion's Initiative, Firemane Avenger, Frontline Medic, and Boros Reckoner are all so good, it will take me forever to choose. I'm leaning towards firemane for boatloads of lightning helix. I think it could kill those cursed souls of yours.

Ah, yes Lightning Helixs to the max.
3/3 Flyer with built in Helix, nice.

It's one of my favorite angels, largely because you can yell "smite!" when it kills something.

Both Pyrostatic Pillar and the Eidolon only work on ccm<=3. So, any deck that isn't weenie will be mostly unaffected? I'd say, run some Manabarbs as well (or as a replacement of the eidolon or at least in the sideboard). And if you replaced the Eidolons, you might want to run Earthquake or Flamebreak or something similar.

Will Sideboard Manabarbs, thanks Puschkin, for looking it over!
