Deck Description

Thopters. Deck 8 in Creature Challenge tourney. Cheap deck. One win condition, produce Infinite tokens. Trickery.

Tokens, tokens, tokens. Lifegain, lifegain, lifegain. That is what it is about. How does this deck stack up? With it's control aspect, drawing power, and token generation?

Hints and tips appreciated.

How would this deck fair against the Beast deck? Merfolk or Angel? Human or Vampire?

How to Play

Sword of the Meek and Thopter Foundry is the Win Condition here.
Step 1. Play Thopter Foundry
Step 2. Play Sword of the Meek.
Step 3. Start paying 1 colorless mana and sacking your Sword of the Meek to Thopter Foundry. You get a 1/1 thopter creature. And you get 1 life. And Sword of the Meek, which was sent to the graveyard is regenerated back onto the 1/1 thopter creature.
Step 4. Repeat.

I need two different mana sources, Blue and Black. So here comes Dimir Signet. It also works well with Foundry. I also have 13 Islands and 9 Swamps. 8 of my lands count as Artifacts, and just like Dimir Signet, work well with Foundry.

Since I only have one Win condition: I need 2 things to have a chance at winning. I need to be able to get my Combo cards in my hand, and I need to be able to protect the Combo cards once they are on the table. For this, 1st) Index, Gitaxian Probe, and Muddle the Mixture. Gitaxian is pure drawing power while Index and Muddle the Mixture let me search deeper into my library to find my missing piece of the Winning Combo/or much needed land. 2nd) Once I find my combo and put it on the table I have Mana Leak and Argivian Restoration to help make sure my stuff stays on the board. Mana Leak counters threats and Argivian Restoration helps me retrieve my Artifacts from the grave, if you decide to bring Artifact hate to the table.

Aether Spellbomb and Ornithopter. They add fodder to the Foundry/Sword of the Meek Combo. If Sword of the Meek is not in play, I can sack Spellbomb or Ornithopter to Thopter Foundry. Also, Spellbomb adds extra provides versatility in that it can return a threatening creature my opponent controls to his hand OR I can use it to draw another card, helping me find my combo piece, OR I can sac it to Foundry to gain 1 life and produce a 1/1 Thopter. And Ornithopter provides speed, a free creature, and a free sack for Thopter, again, if needed.

Finally, Time Sieve. Sac 5 Artifact, take an Extra Turn. Idea is that this card is going to give me Infinite turns when I have Thopter cranking out 5 Artifacts a turn.

No, I can't add that joker!!! He is broken! Too powerful. But thank you for the suggestion. Disciple of the Vault does rock, especially in Artifact Affinity decks.

Thanks for the advice!

Some are more expensive then others.

Okay Kazzong. Game is over. Thopters produced a lot of Tokens...but Genesis Chamber is just failing in the deck. So many of the artifacts produced are tokens...and Genesis Chamber isn't syncing with it. Regardless, I had a Galvanizer, a Myrsmith, Genesis Chamber, and 4 2/2 myr tokens as well as Eldrazi Monument...so they all had flying and indestructibility...when the poop hit the fan.

Turn 5 Seen Thopter have 2 Dimir Signets in play. As well as Time Sieve. Thopter Foundry. And Sword of the Meek. Had 4 lands...all was out for a massive combo. Thopter took 3 Turns on turn 5 do to Time Sieve. But could not find the 5th mana for the infinite combo. So Myr got a turn 6th.

Turn 6 Myrs did a little damage...but it wasn't enough...because on Turn 6 Thopters found their 5th land...ended up taking 6 Turns on Turn 6 using Time Sieve. Myrs had to take 6 turns because it had to build up enough creatures to make it through Myrs Eldrazi Monument and their 7 indestructible creatures...but 39 Thopters did the trick!

Fyi, Thopters had 96 life when they won.

Turn 6 Thopters 96 life. Myrs 0 life.
Thopters 1-0
Myrs 0-1

Isn't it a bit unfair to throw a combodeck into a tournament that is otherwise creature-mania? Not only do you put creatures vs combo, you put creature decks that re restricted in their core selection of spells, creatures, to just a handful of cards. BTW, Sword of the Meek was banned in Modern because of this deck, this should be a hint that maybe it isn't fair to put it against ordinary creature decks.

I won't comment on this except for the obvious: Up the key cards to 4 copies each.

I have Muddle the Mixture to search for the Sword of the Meek, Thopter Foundry, and Time Sieve. So thinking maybe not need 4 of each of the combo cards.

Also, will play another game or two with this deck...and if it truth, if it is way too powerful...i will change it out.
