Deck Description

As easy as it gets. Pure speed and burn.

Idea of deck is for every one mana you tap you cause 3 damage to opponent. Tries to kill the opponent no later than turn 5.

Capable (do to mana ramp) of turn 3 wins.

Version 2. I took out Final Fortune, Second Rite, Seething Song.

How to Play

Cards of Interest:

1. Lightning Bolt...one of the best 1 mana drops in Magic.

2. Vexing devil...a 4/3 creature for 1 mana, enough said.

3. Furnace of Rath...it doubles the damage everyone receives. With Furnace of Rath in play...Vexing devil is hitting for 8 damage. Lightning Bolt/Spark Elemental/Chain Lightning is hitting for 6 damage for only 1 mana.

4. Fireblast...you sac 2 of your lands to cause 4 points of damage to your opponent. It is awesome because you use those 2 lands first. Example. Tap 2 red mana to cause 6 points of damage via Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning THEN sac the 2 lands to cause 4 more damage. You, my friend just caused 10 points of damage for 2 mana.

5. Pyroclasm. This is a nice card against token/small creature decks. This deck runs 3 different creature cards, 2 of which are put into the graveyard the very first turn...So the deck needs creature protection. Pyroclasm does two damage to every creature in the game (your's too, but only permanent creature you will have in play is Vexing Devil, which pyroclasm will not kill him).

6. Reckless Abandon. Another Card like Fireblast, sac your stuff for speed and more damage. Idea is to play something like Spark Elemental. Attack, then sac him for one Red mana to Reckless Abandon. It is 7 damage for 2 mana. Very nice.

I like to win any way I can...a cheap Lightning Bolt will do. But what I love to do is Play Furnace of Rath on 4th turn and Sac 2 lands to Fireblast. 8 damage.

Furnace of Rath, if in your opening hand...can be fun. Let your opponent attack. Save your burn Spells. Play Furnace of Rath on your 4th turn (3rd turn if you have Rite of Flame). 5th turn waylay on them! Lighting Bolts for 6 damage. Or play Pyroclasm doing 4 damage to every creature. Spark Elemental/Reckless Abandon doing 14 damage for 2 mana. Sac 2 tapped lands to do 8 damage via Fireblast. Fun Times, ladies and gentleman. Fun times.

If playing mill or discard, the game plan is to just go all out. For longer games, use stuff like Chain Lighting and Lighting Bolt as well as Pyroclasm to kill their creatures, then get through to the opponent via unblocked Vexing Devils/Sparks/Ball Lightning and Reckless Abandon and Fireblast.

Overall this is one of the most basic decks I have ever built. There is nothing to it.

Take out Furnace of Rath and add in Increasing Vengeance?

I'd -2 Hidetsugu and +2 reckless abandon.
You don't really need seething songs IMO.
Wheel of Fortune and Mishra's Factory are quite good as well in burn decks. Leyline of punishment is also a favorable choice.

Thanks for the advice. I have a few Reckless Abandon lying around. Don't have any Wheel of Fortunes or Factories though.

I wasn't familiar with Reckless Abandon... I love that card!

Yep. It is very much like a Goblin Grenade but you can play it on any of your creatures.

Idea would be
Turn 1 Vexing Devil
Turn 2. Spark Elemental. Attack with Spark and Devil doing 7 damage. Then Play Reckless Abandon and sac Spark to do 4 more damage. Total damage 11 damage.
Turn 3. Play Chain Lighting and Lighting Bolt for 6 damage. Sac the two tapped lands for Fireblast. Total damage on turn 3 is 10.
Total damage is 21 damage!

Damn, I wish I had those vexing devils, fucking rad card!
I think I'd remove Furnace of Rath. Not sure what to add though.

On a side note: I forgot to mention the existance of Kindle. Could be interesting for both of you I guess.

Yeah, I remember Kindle. It's pretty good, damage just adds up.

I don't own any Vexing Devils. Not in real life. But on this site I can make any deck using any card! Even ones with Black Lotus and Moxes.

And throughout the years I keep taking out Furnace of Rath. 4 mana seems like a lot of mana not to do any instant damage. But I love the card! It wins you the game, next turn after you cast it, a lot of times.

Like, you cast Furnace of Rath then sack 2 mountains to do 8 damage to Fireblast. Or play Furnace or Rath, and next turn draw a Lightning Bolt, and cast it for 6 damage. That 8 damage and 6 damage is usually enough to finish off the opponent.

But you are right, Dusk, and I liked your comment for it...Furnace or Rath does seem like the one card to take out of the deck. Just can't seem to bring myself to do it. :0

Yeah, i know xD I just keep thinking people have the cards they have on their deck builder.
Hey man, if you feel comfortable with furnace of rath and if it wins you games, don't take it out!
If you did take them out, I sincerely don't know what to add.. (maybe some instant cards?)

Furnace of Rath does take a lot of mana. But imagine having a Furnace or Rath in play. FOR JUST 3 MANA you cast Ball Lightning and he attacks for 12/1 trample damage. A 12/1 creature with haste and trample for 3 mana! That is awesome. Or Have Furnace of Rath in play. Cast a Lightning Bolt. For ONE SINGLE MANA you do 6 damage to your opponent! It is fun. Or as I said before, sack two tapped mountains and do 8 damage to your opponent with Fireblast!!! 8 damage to your opponent without using/tapping a single land. That is also fun and awesome. One more example. Have Furnace of Rath in play. Play a Spark Elemental and sack it to Reckless Abandon. For 2 mana you just potentially dealt 14 damage to your opponent! 14 damage for 2 mana!!!

I agree, Dusk, it makes Magic fun for me. But maybe the deck could be better with something besides Furnace of Rath.

Yeah, you definetly make it seem worthy and fun,so... just keep it I guess! ;)

I would probably take out the Furnace of Rath also... but it might be because my playgroup runs a lot of white and green, so it always seems like they have a timely disenchant/naturalize in their hand. So you'd waist the four mana in my play group.

Yep, it is agreed. Furnace of Rath is the most iffy card in the deck. And that would be brutal, turn 4 Furnace of Rath...then my opponent removes it. Ouch. Agreed.

I just can't seem to allow myself to remove it, lol.

I dig how you explained how Furnace of Rath works. The cards advantage makes more sense to me now.

You are welcome. It is a neat card. It can win you a game. But it can also be dangerous...because it also doubles your opponent's damage that he gives you. Fun Stuff.

Yep. Like with Spark. Second turn. Play Spark Elemental, attack with him, then sack him to Reckless Abandon. 7 damage.
