How to Play

Shorecrasher Mimic is the bad guy here.
When you cast a blue AND green spell, he becomes a 5/3 with Trample. I have 22 cards that are both blue/green. So, HE WILL be getting pumped up.

I also have flying here. Gaea's Skyfolk has flying. Hydroform make a land become a 3/3 flying creature until end of turn. And Favor of the Overbeing gives all your creatures +2/+2, flying, and vigilance.

With everything costing only 2 mana...you will be top decking so very quickly...and have a lot of extra mana every turn...just going to waste, what to do with it?

1) That is where Constant Mists comes into play. Sack a land, and it is a buyback Fog. You can afford to sack a land, trust me, with everything costing 2 mana. Coiling Oracle is going to be providing me extra lands to sack.

2) Both Simic Guildmage and Zameck Guildmage provide an outlet to all of your extra mana lying around. They let you add +1/+1 counters, draw cards, and move around your Favor of the Overbeing.

Now...to also prevent top decking...where is my drawing power? Here comes, along with Zameck Guildmage there is Coiling Oracle and Vedalken Heretic. So...you should not be running out of cards.

Constant Mists for combat damage prevention.

Deglamer for artifact and enchantment hate.

Muddle the Mixture rocks in this deck. It lets you search your entire deck for any 2 mana card...with every single card costing 2 mana in this deck...it will get you ANY card in your deck.

Simic Charm does a little bit of everything. It can give your creature +3/+3 (play it on Shorecrasher Mimic to make it a 8/6 creature with Trample), or it can give your creatures shroud for protection, or it can rescue a creature if need be.

Deck discussion for 2 mana challenge

Take out the dual lands and this is a 15 dollar deck!

Or... add even more to make feeding them to Constant Mists more palatable!

Scrylands in particular would be a nice addition.

Also, it wouldn't take much effort to turn this into a playable Simic deck with a normal curve. I like it a lot.

is the deck hard to play?

0
Posted 28 May 2014 at 19:35

Nope. You mean because of the cards? Or because of them all costing 2 mana?
Regardless, no, it is rather easy to play. You just can't play anything until your second turn.

Try it out, whitedragon313. It's easy to make a deck with all the cards costing 2 mana.

My deck? No...not to many combos. Using Shorecrasher Mimic and other blue/green cards so that he is pumped up.

Added to the list. Looks nice. Just got back into Magic about a year ago...and faced, for the first time, a mill deck. At first I was wondering what the hell he was trying to do, making me put cards in my graveyard, but I quickly realized (as my deck got smaller and smaller) what he was doing. It was too late. lol. He beat my butt.

Anyways, good job.

I'd propose that if you actually wanted to play these decks against each other that you start the game by searching your deck for one basic land and putting it into play, then drawing your starting hand. This means you could start playing cards turn 1.

0
Posted 23 May 2014 at 21:24

I'd rather play a scry land 1st turn. There's still enough variation in lands that the 1st turn should remain intact.

0
Posted 23 May 2014 at 21:51

I do say this..me and one other guy gets together about once a month to play several hours of Magic, together. Whomever draws first, usually wins about 70 percent of the time. There seems a definite advantage to laying down a land first.

With that said..seems like it would be a HUGE advantage in a 2 mana deck, in going first.
Aside from Scry (which is a solid idea Rocco) Lands...you might be on to something Zanmor. Some sort of small change to allow both players to start on equal ground.

Anyone else got any ideas for a 2 mana deck? They seem to rock, in my opinion.

0
Posted 23 May 2014 at 23:04

Perhaps... The one who goes second gets to search for a basic land in addition to his 7+1 cards, but it comes into play tapped.

0
Posted 23 May 2014 at 23:46

Sounds like a plan. I would almost want to go 2nd, in that fashion...ensuring you (since I have a 2 color deck) get the 2nd land color.

0
Posted 24 May 2014 at 00:07

One weird thing I can see allowing a free search for a basic land might do is allow you to warp your mana base a lot: if I know I'll be able to search for a basic land then I might only need two or three of one type in my deck and I could load up on the other.

Hello again,
I already mentioned that I proxy-d this deck and played it at my local comic book store. It's a very good deck, and I like it a lot, but please allow me to tell you the weaknesses of it:
It's weak against removal (like any creature-based deck), and if favor of the overbeing is attached to the shorecrasher mimic, they are getting 2 for 1 (in the sense that they spend 1 removal card to take away 2 of yours - the mimic and the enchantment). The guildmages are dead cards unless you have +1/+1 counters already out there. The heretic, while good-natured, is probably useless because there's no way to make him unblockable to get that extra card draw.

That being said, I picked up a few more blue/green cards (since I was at the store anyways). These aren't 2-mana, but I feel they would greatly improve the deck. Horizon Chimera (4-mana, flash, flying, trample, life gain), shielding plax (3-mana, enchantment, card draw, hexproof), trygon predator (3-mana, flying, allows you to remove the deglamers from your deck). Finally, miming slime (3-mana, not blue-green, 2 colorless and 1 green, for an X/X ooze) - play a blue/green spell to get the shorecrasher up to 5 power, then play the miming slime and BAM! You have a 5/5 ooze. Yes, it will require 2 spells and more mana, but bottom-line is that it's a 3-mana 5/5 ooze (7/7 if favor of the overbeing is already on the mimic).

I was also thinking about slippery bogle, but it'll take some more time to tweak the deck.
