I grew fond of the Golgari while playing with the Duel Decks: Golgari vs. Izzet with a friend of mine. I enjoyed the Dredge mechanic, so I decided to see what the Scavenge mechanic had to offer. Upon purchasing the Golgari Growth intro pack, I realized that the deck was very under-powered, and needed some TLC. I wanted this deck to feel fast -- almost suicidal; creatures practically begging to be put into the graveyard, in order to offer up their power to their comrades.
1. Main attackers: Daggerdrom Imp, Slitherhead, Rot Farm Skeleton, Dreg Mangler and Lotleth Troll. Turns 1-4 will be fairly standard beat down, and setting up the scavenge engine.2. Use the Skeletons to fill the graveyard up with corpses to scavenge3. Use Lotleth Troll to fuel the scavenge engine.4. Corpsejack Menace and Varolz kick scavenging into overdrive. If possible, hold off scavenging until they are on the field, then SCAVENGE ALL THE THINGS!5. Grisly Savage, Down // Dirty as needed to get land / retrieve spells6. Deadbridge Chant for… I don't know yet. I haven't actually gotten a chance to use it, but it seems like fun.7. Vraska is really useful to destroy annoying permanents. I haven't had a chance to use her -7 Ability yet.8. Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord can turn one of those fat creatures into a bomb
