Deck Description

This deck is designed to completely control the opponent while having an effective mid range play. I feel like I went overkill with my win game strategy with AEtherling and Azor's Elocutors but I don't know how it'd play since I only have Azor's Elocutors at the moment. This deck has proven to be pretty effective thus far but I'm always up for suggestions or feedback because I know that there's someone out there that has a better idea then the last person.

How to Play

This is deck is built to control the opponent through counterspells and detaining his or her creatures so that Azor's Elocutors can come through for the win. if Azor's Elocutors fails, then I have Ætherling to pull through for the win. I will update soon.

Deck discussion for Azorius Detain/Control

Aetherling could be your finisher, and Clone in the sideboard if your opponent plays a nice fatty that you can detain or bounce. Archon of the Triumvirate could work but I do not like his casting cost of 7. A single Holy Mantle or Stolen Identity might work also?

I was considering Archon of the Triumvirate as well but I also did not like his casting cost. To expensive. I know I didn't have a side board but I took your opinions into consideration and made a sideboard. Let me know what you think.

Your sideboard should do nicely. Play the deck and see what still causes the most problems and address them at that point.

Judge's Familiar isn't really helping you here. I would suggest replacing it with a few Archaeomancer, and suddenly your Cancel are going further. Also Spell Rupture will make Lyev Skyknight's cheap casting cost and 3/1 spread irritating. And deputy if Acquittals can Recycle your Archaeomancer to keep Cancel or Vapor Snag at the ready to keep pissing your opponent off at the most opportune times.

Thank you so much for the advice. I really like your ideas, especially how Deputy of Aquittals recycles Archaeomancer to keep using Cancels and Vapor Snags. I'm gonna switch things around and see how it works and let ya know.

Cool. Oh and you could probably if you wanted to milk the Elecutors WinCon, you could maybe swap in 2 Safe Passage or a Riot Control in case Detain ever lets you down.

Good Idea.

You may want to replace the Cancels with the Theros version of Cancel, same mana cost but allows you to Scry as well.

That's a really good idea. Dissolve is the name of the card. I was just looking at that card in another Azorius Control deck and was thinking the same thing. lol. Great minds think alike.

Gridlock, Bkustersquall, and Haazda Snare Squad are also good picks to supplement Detain since even though Creatures will untap it can still clear the way for your ground assault and blustersquall can be overloaded to stop a big swing and open em up for some damage.
