this deck is seriously one of the best control decks I have seen in a while. I think the terminus and day in the main is perfect, just a solid approach to stupid token decks haha! I think you are set with this line up.

Hey, if you could check out my deck I built for legacy, I would love your comments!

Playing a tap-out deck myself! I love the phantasmal images, I'll have to check if I can put them into my deck too. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=332827 this is it anyways, check it out :)

Alright I have a bit of time so I'm gonna throw in my two cents on this one. I really like the use of phantasmal image in here...he can be used to copy frosty and by doing so its vulnerability as an illusion will hardly be something to worry about with all the lockdown you'll have. I would cut down to just 2 titans though. Running a full set will just slow you down. I think you can stand to run an extra Gideon's avenger as well as another dungeon Geist (those dudes are crazy good). Other than that the deck looks solid to me.

Ok. I did a bit of touching up.

Unless I'm mistaken, the Frost Titan's ability counters the spell unless 2 is paid, it does not make the spell cost an additional two

So the Phantasmal Image would still die to anything that targets it as the spell is still cast

This is correct, I'm just saying that throwing down another Titan for two mana will be so much lockdown that the illusionary downside won't really matter

I was thinking of a similar build before and the way you have put this together seems great!
Would be a long battle if it fought my : http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=337285

Hmmm I was running a similar deck as well. I feel like 2-3 copies of temporal Mastery wouldn't be too shabby in here

I honestly think that either frost breaths of gideons lawkeepers should be in this deck, I'm runnin a SAVAGE W/U tap deck that pisses people off and those lawkeepers are FANTASTIC for early stall as well as pumping up your avengers

frost breath is great and have you thought of mayube a sunblast angel. Good late stage removal place a hard hitter to go along with the frost titan

uh, 20 lands in a "control" deck.....good luck winning at any semi-competitve fnm!

I can't echo this enough. This deck needs 24-25 lands to consistently drop most of these spells. -1 Tamiyo, -2 Crippling chill +3 lands AT LEAST. This puts you at a casual level. 2 more to be at a competitive level.

Add some silence... and with one of those in your hand and Tamiyo's emblem you win the game... silence says your opponets cant cast spells this turn... and with tamiyo emblem it returns to your hand so leave two W mana untapped then play it on your turn and his turn... and they never get to cast spells again... Muhahahahaha.... also how about sleep

Sun blast angel. That's all I have to say.
And Pristine Talismans instead of spheres. They're more relevant in the long term.

I was running something fairly similar but I've found that RB aggro and Naya pod gave it problems. I ended up running more of an esper spirit build with Tamiyo and Gideon as finishers in case the dungeon geists didn't get the job done. All in all glad to see more people trying control in what Wizards is clearly trying to turn into an aggro dominated format.

Hi jarrettbeast97,

Very nice deck. One of the best decks you've posted. With your incorporation of some of the better suggestions this deck is looking pretty strong.
Have only minor suggestions they are more see how they work for you than strong recommendatons.
Test use of 1 Sunblast Angel in mainboard over using Entreat the Angels.
Test 1 or 2 Snapcaster Mage over 1 or Dungeon Geist.
Test adding 2 Delver of Secrets over 2 Dungeon Geists.
Try 2 Surgical Extraction over 2 Gut Shot in sideboard

I tried delver and it didn't work as well as some think it might. Sunblast was a boss. The others i will consider.

By far my favorite standard playing style, and probably the best deck of them i've seen. too bad I can't afford a 400 dollar deck, but this looks great only thing I kinda dont like is 4 day of judgements, I don't know how well 4 works out, but i'd say 2-3 would possibly be better and then adding another sunblast angel or different card.

and I'm currently running a standard UW blink deck, maybe if you could check it out that'd be nice

Sleep would be nice in a deck like this - although I dunno if it's standard or not.
Do you find you get enough draw with this list?
What turn is your likely win?

Any chance you could check out my Sac deck?

Why do you have Surgical Extraction and Gut Shot? Other than that, this deck is amazing

0
Posted 26 May 2012 at 01:49

GutShot because it takes care of the Phantasmal Image bullshit. Surgical extraction is just awesome anywhere.

A good amount of control, though I feel the number of board wipes may be excessive. Bonus points for including Gideon and his wife.
