Deck Description

If anyone has some tips, please feel free to give some advice.
This is a mindcrank and duskmantle guildmage deck.
It is a mana ramp deck and is pretty fast and consistent.

Please anyone check out my other decks some of them were made when I was younger But some are more recent.

How to Play

I found this to be the fastest way possible.

TURN 1 PLAY CITY OF BRASS AND PLAY CATHARTIC ADEPT. YOU ARE NOW AT 19 LIFE

TURN 2 PLAY FORBIDDEN ORCHARD AND PLAY DUSKMANTLE GUILDMAGE. YOU ARE AT 18 LIFE AND YOUR OPPONENT CONTROLS A CREATURE.

TURN 3 PLAY CITY OF BRASS PLAY DARK RITUAL PLAY MINDCRANK AND USE DUSKMANTLE'S ABILITY FOR 3 MANA USE CATHARTIC ADEPT TO MILL INFINITELY AND DRAIN LIFE INFINITELY.

GAME OVER.

Deck discussion for drain crank

For this type of deck, you need a control shell, which you sort of have with all those counters, which means that you may want to go to 23-24 lands too. As for mana ramp, all I see is black man ramp, so Cabal Coffers might be worth considering, and a few more Swamps to make it work better, which means you'll want dual lands that are both Swamp and Island, so your options are Watery Grave; Sunken Hollow; and Underground Sea.

There's not much in terms of actual life draining. Only three spells and one of them drains your own life. I think I can see what you're trying to build, but I would suggest looking for more cards that target your opponent's life. Also, you may want some stronger creatures. Someone casts Languish mid game and you're wide open to whatever creatures they have our at the time.

What spells drain my life.
The point of the deck is to use duskmantle guildmage to drain the opponents life.

That's my bad I guess. I thought I saw a spell that drained your own life to search for a card. I might have seen that in a different deck. Sorry about that.

But with only one creature draining your opponent's life I would suggest removing the tag.

That one creature is the whole point of the deck.

See you use mindcrank, duskmantle guildmage and cathartic adept to infinitely drain life or mill them out.

Oh! Damn, now I see it. Man, I'm sorry.

With everything two mana or less, take out the mana ramp, or at least most of it if you want it for the combo. I'd also replace cathardic adept and/or blood pet with a few walls, like fog bank. If you wanted a low mana way to mill, Memory Sluice or tome scour. I've made a few decks with this combo if you'd like to check them out for ideas

If you stick close to two mana, the Transmute cards Muddle the Mixture and Shred Memory become very good options. Even Dimir Infiltrator would be an option, though less useful than the other two.

I see this is a 3-card combo. Duskmantle Guildmage + Mindcrank + 3rd card (Dimir Infiltrator or Cathartic Adept). You could also use Bump in the Night since it's only 1 mana.
Personally, when it comes to combo decks, I prefer fewer pieces. Most mill decks mill you out slowly but I see your deck wll drain all their life before they actually mill themselves out. If you want to take a look at another instant mill, you can check this out:

Although, it relies on white, so it sorta messes up your colors.
Anyhow, good work!

I had something very similar to this except i used Gut shots, aether vials and countersquall. Also with no basic lands sunken hollow will just slow you down. As for sideboard i would recommend mental mistep

thanks for the suggestion I will be sure to take out sunken hollow and add in Darkslick shores

I would replace Underground Sea for Drowned Catacomb, unless you have hundreds of dollars for each Underground Sea. You also want atleast 1 basic land just incase you get Path to Exile'd.

I'd keep in the ramp. You want to be able to play Duskmantle Guildmage and it's ability the first turn it hits so your opponent has less time to respond to it.

Also, if you replace the Underground Sea and the Counterspell, this is Modern Legal. I'm not sure the best counter to replace Counterspell with. Alot of people play Remand, I like Negate, Mana Leak, and Dispel. Negate hits alot of spells, Mana Leak hits everything, and Dispel hits alot of removal.

Looks good!

Unfortunately it is not countersquall and underground sea that make this deck not modern legal, it is dark ritual and blood pet.

actually, Counterspell and Underground Sea also make it not modern legal.
Also to be honest, this simply loses to blood moon. you might want some basic lands here.

I said countersquall

Nevermind you were right.
I thought it said that only blod pet and dark ritual aren't legal in modern.
But it says what you said.

nobody said countersquall wasn't modern legal. Bfrick2 said it was counterspell and underground sea. and stormtide suggested countersquall asan alternative to counterspell.

Muddle the Mixture over Dimir Infiltrator as it helps protect the combo as well as tutor? Also, what about Thought Scour?

Thats what a reposter would say <.<. I jest, the other deck was grixis and ran things like tormenting voice and fathless looting, this is a two colour build.

So you have Dimir Infiltrator. It's unblockable, you're just using it to start Mindcrank. May I suggest Invisible Stalker, as he still costs 2 but also has hexproof, giving him self protection from your opponent? Anything global they cast against you (Wrath of God, Languish, Slagstorm, etc) is going to hit your Infiltrator regardless, but Stalker is at least protected from targeted spells. Just something to consider.

Infiltrator is also used to get the cards he needs. It's great with this combo
