The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

This deck is a cute little concoction I had for Modern. In theory, it should work perfectly, but the only question is whether or not it can keep up with an compete with some of the more powerful decks in the format (Jund, Rock, Pod, etc.) or the dedicated combo decks (Twin, Storm, Tron, etc.) The idea is basically to establish a pretty impassable board full of cards they either can't kill or don't want to attack through--Geralf's Messenger, Phyrexian Obliterator, Bloodghast, Typhoid Rats, etc. There is also a lot of hand control/disruption here in the forms of Thoughtseize, Inquisition of Kozilek, and Liliana of the Veil. Then, once the board is stalled out and you hit five mana, you drop a Gray Merchant for close to lethal. Your power cards like Phyrexian Obliterator and Geralf's Messenger can pick up the pieces of Gray Merchant doesn't finish them off.The only concerns I have are a.) blowing yourself out by discarding your hand with Liliana, b.) Never seeing a fifth land, and c.) The defenses of the deck might not be good enough. Soul Sisters can just fly overtop, storm doesn't give a darn about your board presence, and tron can outclass you very quickly. I'm not the best at building mana bases either, but I figured that including fetchlands probably isn't the best here, since it's super important that we hit our fifth land drop.Comments and suggestions are always appreciated!

Phyrexian arena helps with devotion but it doesnt scry, and whip of erebos would gHelp if your loosing life to fast and can pull back a gray merchant for the win. But it's pretty solid, just my opinion.
