Deck discussion for First Wither

hmm seems like you need some more abils to make your creatures stronger. Also there might be a better big hitter then kazuul I can't look right now but I will later.

It looks like this deck can pump out most of it's creatures in turn 2-5, but after that you'll possibly run out of real threats to play and lack the means to support the army of little first striking withers. I'd suggest either adding more burn / permanent removal to get you through the last turns needed to get the opponent down, or simply deny them the chance to get anything out past turn 5 at all, by splashing some white and throwing down an Armageddon: You'll have most of your army on the table by then, and they won't have any real chance to disrupt it while you finish off what you started the first turns.

Just an added idea in case you'd be interested in trying the Armageddon route: Throw in a set of devastating summons to sacrifice your own lands into fatties before destroying them. This could be instead of the kazuuls.

Interesting ideas.. I do think you're right about the deck quickly reaching reasonable strength but not getting better past that. I think I want a different solution for that though, I like keeping it mono.. I'm starting to consider rage reflection, since it also works well with wither.

im liking a card called fling at the moment its another pile of damage as any creatures get killed - i also really like seething song for a quicker start

Thanks, I think I prefer rite of flame over seething song, no need for both of them. Fling is definately a nice card, but my creatures aren't very high in power. It works best with high powered haste elementals you have to sac at end of turn.

Good deck. As previously mentioned, it does lack staying power, and you could easily be outmatched by your opponents' endgame creatures and spells.

I realize you want to keep the deck monored, but adding Black would be helpful. Spells like Doom Blade, Hideous End and such would keep your opponents' creatures in check, and there are great creatures like Smoldering Butcher or Ashenmoor Liege.

I just added Hateflayer, i think it can help a lot towards endgame. Also against the opponents creatures, it can work like the black destroy cards. Thanks, for commenting.

I'm wondering about Kazuul now.. I took the brighthearth's out, so it won't get any cheaper to play. I guess it doesn't really belong in a first strike wither deck, unless I've got everlasting torment and rage reflection out.. I think it's a decent defensive card.

I had a deck like this when shadow moor came out.... Maybe some blowfly Infestation...
Thanks for looking at my treefolk deck

Why Kazuul?? He seems out of place...

And Everlasting Torment seems odd as well... If all your creatures have wither, there's no point to giving it to your opponents. Adding Stigma Lasher will give you one more creature AND give you the ability to recreate Everlasting Torment's 1st effect... Actually, put Livewire Lash on Stigma Lasher (how fitting) and slap Claw of Valakut on him and BAM! Your opponent can't gain life the rest of the game.

But if you really wanna hold onto that "Damage can't be prevented" bit, I'd suggest Leyline of Punishment. Yes, it costs 1 more mana to cast, but you could also possibly cast it for free.

And finally, I know it was already suggested, but maybe splash some Black? Cinderbones, Necroskitter, Needle Specter, and Sickle Ripper can all take the place of Boggart Ram-Gang and Scuzzback Scrapper. I mean... Necroskitter will turn your opponents army into your army, and Needle Specter with Claws on him?? My god... How annoying would that be?!

I might go build a deck now :-)

I guess you're right about Kazuul. The thing with everlasting torment is that it doesn't matter so much they have wither, cause mine are first strike, and any wither damage they do is greatly reduced because of that. You do kind of have a point though, I put more wither creatures in at some point, by now nearly all of them have it. If I take one out, I'll take the other out as well, which I should. What do I replace them with.. If I stay mono that is. I'll try replacing them with 2 seething songs, and 2 scars.

The thing is I think boggart ram gang is probably better than many if not all of those, Claws is much less good when half the lands are swamps.

Seething song is a little unnecessary... It's mono-red, so Lightning Bolts are always helpful :-)

Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle? it works really good in a mono red deck
