THE NAME IS OF NONE OF THE IMPORTANCE! It is rather more important that we find a way to duel... i have found this app called cockatrice by woogerworks, i suppose it'll do for now, as the substitute for MTGO and skype battle calls. however you, as always, busy as ever :P

Wait, I've heard of Cockatrice. Does it ask you to pay like MTGO does? I'd probably be willing to do that if it wasn't too expensive, but I hear that you have to buy individual cards on MTGO, which doesn't sound appealing. That would be awesome if it could work out.

yes it works like mtgo but its like all manual. you ahve to play it like you play with real cards. which can be annoying, you'll see what i mean. go download it and try it out for yourself. its worht a try.

I actually don't mind manual, because it makes me feel in control of the game. =) I'll try it out!

dude, i'm so pisssed... another bloody prerelease that i'll narrowly miss... especially m15, where i want shit loads of them planeswalkers. ugh what shitty timing and luck you know? jesus.

i know you're not a great standard follower in the competitive scene and quite a rogue-deckbuilding junkie like me to create all of those whacky and fun decks but just like to hear out from you.

pretty heavy control as you can see, most of which are jsut hyprids of aggro control. none are combos.

There's these routes i'd like to go into this GP for a roughly (mostly budget) deck i've made:

-devotion for the win without desecration demons and pack rats (hate them)
-as well as heriocs going on in there, make the bestows worth it along with the nighthowlers growing big too.
-i really think burning earth will be an allstar because of how painful it'll be to other decks.
-drown in sorrows are against white wenies and as well as blue devotion
-classic removals here and there.
-i like red because it'll help me deal with blood barons and stormbreath dragons
-i also love agent of the fates cause of sacrifice, gets around hexproof you know?
-brainmaggot and duress, classic discard choosing card and i also like ordeal of erebos, if it was only instead of discard, it'll be discard at random, that'll be that overpoweredness.
-besides, i like gary :P

- anti removal
- green gets me into regeneration, especially with trollhide along with ajani's precense, which pretty much gets around wrath effects
- however, i'll face draw problems, obviously with lands, as well as too many creatures or too many enchantments.
- if i had more budget, i can go into red, which can get me madcap skills and wild guess that helps me discard anythign useless and gets me more cards.
- i just love auras, simple as that.

so which do you think?

Hey! Sorry I haven't responded in a while. I always get nervous with my responses and put them off. =P How have you been lately? Done any other FNMs? Other new decks?

Great! My friends have put together a Magic group, and we've been able to get friends of friends to join, so now we have around 14 members. Planning to all meet up on Friday, and I'm pretty excited. But how was your vacation?

haha can i be of relevance to this group? :P my vacation was pretty chilled. beach with my S.O. and then just chilled in singapore, magic events here and there, drafting and sealed pre-releases. pretty fun to dive in. especially when its
Day 1 - landed in singapore, bought my U/W heroic, went to FNM all on one day
day 3 - attended a GPT. lol i was the scrub of the bunch. didn't make it far but it was soemthing.

then stayed for 2 pre-releases (all i could afford)
barely any money pulls but i was pretty happy about my sealed gameplay.

went in 2-2 on the first one, deck was okay, just had shitty turnouts from mediocre draws against super good decks. one guy had 2 scuttlign doom engines, a soul of new pharexia and a bloody soul of shandalar. insta-GG.

the other lost game was cause of just crappy draws and my creatures couldn't match up to the speed and tempo of the other guys/ so yeha. was pretty disappointed.

then on the next pre-release, went 4-0, pretty sick. my best common combo and probably MVPs were marked by honor and sungrace pegasus. 3/4 flying lifelink vigilance. that shit racked up advantages and life swings. i had 2 of each so if one went down, i had the other as backup. it was pretty sick, and i favored them heavily in all matches <3 love those damn horse. haha. i'd tell you more but i'd rather call and explain everything. you need to be more free man.

Haha! I'll see if the leader would be willing to add you. XD At the very least, your personality wouldn't be a hinderance to the group. There are some people that we don't know, and we're worried that they might be those kind of players that will suck the life out of the game, but I know you'd never do that. In fact, I've been trying to get them hooked on Cockatrice, so maybe you could be around for that? =)

But dude! You went to a GPT? I've never been to one. Was everyone there bringing Tier One decks? That must be intimidating. I also went to one prerelease. I got a few good things, but nothing too special. I had this really cool combo set up where my opponent had a Goblin Rabblemaster and I had a Hornet Nest and another creature. He would summon a goblin, I'd block with the Hornet Nest, and then next turn it would happen all over again, with my other creatures dealing with the leftover Goblins. I probably could've won that, but I stupidly blocked a trampler with my Hornet Nest because I forgot that only two damage would be dealt to it. That was fun. =P I also ended up getting to the end of the clock, so I got a tie. Ended up going 1-2-1.

Sugrace is a beast with Marked of Honor! Have you ever seen spellslingers? They do that exact combo in episode 9. I've only seen that episode, but I think what happens is they get someone who knows nothing about the game and they play with them. At least, that's what it was in the episode that I watched. So if you went 4-0, what kind of prizes did you win? I'm pretty jealous of you. =P

tier 1 everywhere. the intimidation overkilled my thinking habits and completely made me miss triggers, targets and just completely screw my game plan. so yeah. i. was. not. prepared. U/W heroic made some plays, but i was scared shitless and frozen as if frost lynx got me in a untap loop cycle to make any good progress. but damn it was fun when i did get my shit together. heroic into a 10/14 unblockable lagonna-band trailblazer. woot woot.

i'm more of a limited and sealed junkie now that i think about it. i can't do constructed cause that can get boring for me if its the same repetitive tier 1 mono-black. i mean, that shit bores me now. i like to go roguing :P

anyway, i had so much bombs on the 2-2 game, but shit i was just screwed by my draws. hornet queen. genesis hydra. siege dragon. i mean seriously, how did i not get shit done?! oh right, bad draws and outran by aggro decks. not a single lightning strike. ruined me pretty hard.

ahh well at lest its something. i love the goblin kaboomist. best. flavor. ever. this chick, quite and like lookign sweet at all. WRECKED SHIT. her pulls? soul of new pharexia, 2 goblin kaboomist, a scuttlign doom engine, a chief engineer and 2 shrapnal blasts with lotta artifact synergy. i mean, shit dude. U/R artifacts in a deck. that literally screamed constructed playable. it was scary.

everyone underestimated the pegasus that was marked by honor! they always take a blind eye on that thing, thinking they can outrace me ;) she's been a star. i've literally framed her and marked by honor. (angelic soundtrack)

Dude! Sorry about the long wait. Sounds like you had a much better time at the Prerelease than I did. I mean, I had a good time, but you won! So that's something. =P And I definitely didn't make it into even the top 16, so I didn't win anything. Which reminds me. You went 4-0, which means that you only had four rounds. That's surprising, as we have six rounds. As such, I have yet to stay for an entire prerelease (which is only two, but still..), due to my increased fatigue and my friends' fatigue. And speaking of getting muddled by Tier Ones, I went to a Modern Tournament yesterday. I figured that there would be a few decks like that, but that it would be more casual. Boy howdy was I wrong. I fought everything from Affinity to Delver to Merfolk, and the other new guy next to me was getting stomped by a Birthing Pod deck. It was intense. I actually won a match somehow, but that was the first one, so it was all downhill from there.

This Massdrop thing looks awesome! I don't know the finer details of it yet, but I'm very intrigued. These boxes are up for $80? :o Two days left! Gotta think of whether I want to or not! We've been talking about drafting, so maybe this would be a good way to do so. Thanks for telling me about this, man. =)

nah its fine brah. nahhh, at least you had something and experience. i' have that nuts and bolts spike mentality so i always find ways to improve throughout hte whole release. affter game 1 match 1, i completely remodled my deck cause i didn't feel it was good enough and then things just went my way and stuff keeps getting through. i'm happy about that. i'm quite an adaptive person so yeah. maybe my lgs was a small one so only 4 rounds needed.

I'm impressed that you were able to adapt your deck after only one match. I have this issue of having a game plan and then sticking with it even if it means suicide. Thus, the furthest I can stray from the original deck is... not much. But I'm trying to work on it. I'm trying to get better at deck brewing, since I think between that and piloting it is my bigger weakness, so I'm looking at top8 decks and recreating them on here so I can look at things such as mana curves, mana bases, and sample hands. I have...no conclusive results, but I'm hoping to be able to find something soon.

And yeah. I figured they would bring their A game. =P I just was hoping that the price cap that most people were giving their A game was...less than $150. But what are you gonna do? =P

I just think what works better... i still never let go of my favorite combo of having a 2drop 1/2 lifelink flying pegasus added a 4drop +2/+2 and vigilance aura attached to it. BEST. BEATDOWN. EVER. CARRY ME MY PEGASUS TO VICTORYYYYYYYYY.

i mean i do have gameplans but then m15 doesn't exactly have that great of an archetypes to revolve around. its a bunch of cards with mild synergy. that's all. if you got the best cards, that's pretty much your game. nothing too difficult for this set. it was an okay meh set for me. feels tad bit weak for my liking though. even with all these bombs running around.

i'm gonna start mtgo soon. due to bored reasons and wanna achieve the goal of going infinite. long story short, going infinite is meaning going drafts or sealed, gain money cards and packs, sell them and draft more. basically hoping the infinite loop or at least hte slow bleed spending onto mtgo so more drafts per dollar spent basically.

yeah... average playet tends to spend $200+ for going tier 1 glories. oh well. still, balls out to you ;) same thing for me and my 2nd day of GPT-ing. haha

I have to ask why you're going onto MtgO? Ever since you told me about Cockatrice, I've been hooked on it, and I can't imagine going to pay money for cards when they're all free. If I were to bet, I'd say it's the community. Since there are so many more people on MtgO, I imagine there'd be a much bigger sort of community going on. Really, I have no sense of community in Cockatrice, so really anything would be a step up. But I guess the reason I stay is because I have friends (so far one, but here's to hoping for more) that create the community for me that you can't, since you only have your girlfriend.

So good luck going infinite. =) I've always pondered the idea and wondered if it would be possible, but it's cool to see that it actually works for some. You seem to have more dedication than I do (and I like to think that I have quite a bit), so it'd really make me happy to see you make a name for yourself. =P Go Yoshi!
