Deck Description

This is a really unusual deck. I'll start with that. The premise is to eventually abuse Gideon's emblems (lots of emblems) with Emeria Shepherd's landfall trigger to bring him back. This plays like a midrange deck or bordering on a tapout control deck. You have early drops and lots of removal to protect your life total and can have draws where you curve out and pressure an opponent (hangar into removal followed by gideon and wingmate roc). There is also the ability to discard Emeria Shepherd with Jace and reanimate her on 5 with spell mastery enabled.

Ojutai's Command and Necromantic Summons have very important roles in the deck. When Gideon emblems are out, they allow you to reanimate Hangarback Walkers with them immediately dying and to bring back Knight of the White Orchid and allow them to grow with emblems.

Jace and Awaken spells seem great together, as you can cast them on curve and later, snap them back with their Awaken cost paid. The lands serve as potential finishers with Gideon emblems.

Deck discussion for Esper Emblems

I've been on the look-out for decks incorporating BFZ, & yours is the most interesting I've seen so far, so thanks! If you want more people to see it, though, I'd suggest tagging it...you know how quick new decks get buried. Even just BFZ, Standard would help. +1!

Card considerations to test are Halimar Tidecaller and Clutch of Currents to really push the value/awaken theme to another level.

I've been looking at the same thing in a UB deck. If you do go that route, consider adding Scatter to the Winds (counter spell w/ Awaken).

Yeah I really like Scatter to the Winds but this list seems to straddle the line between a midrange value and tapout control deck. I really like the idea of reanimating Halimar Tidecaller with Summons or Shepherd for value. The size of the creatures in this deck shouldn't matter too much, as they get out of control once emblems start accumulating. It's kind of the perfect value creature. It also allows Shambling Vents to attack in the air, making it easier to regain some life.
