Deck Description

I wanted to make a deck around Champion of Lambholt and this is what I came up with. Get counters on Champion of Lambholt to make it difficult for them to block.

How to Play

Gyre Sage + Forced Adaptation for mana
Champion of Lambholt + Forced Adaptation for protection from blocking
Nightshade Peddler + Predator Ooze for defense
Nightshade Peddler + Predator Ooze + Prey Upon for creature removal

Deck discussion for Lambholt, Champion of Counters

You need to be able to protect your champion a bit better and this might work perfectly. Look into cards like Oak Street Innkeeper and Alpha Authority.

Also you have very few ways to evolve Gyre Sage. It is a great mana source but there are more general use ones you could use a lot more often. Like Elvish Mystic or even some Rampant Growths. Even a card like Triumph of Ferocity would work in this slot with what you're trying to accomplish.

As nice as Nightshade Peddler seems he is usually only use for a chump block. I would recommend something like Slitherhead or Experiment One as you have no real powerful turn one. You might even like Ambush Viper.

If you need help with a sideboard I wouldn't mind just let me know.

I am not relying on Evolve for Gyre Sage. I'm relying on Forced Adaptation, Hunger of the Howlpack, Bond Beetle, and Ivy Lane Denizen. I just really like Nightshade Peddler for Soulbond with Predator Ooze. Slitherhead would be great in this. I gotta figure it out.

Lenaric, does that look better?

Yeah quite a bit. I see what you mean about Gyre it's just a chancy combo to hope to draw. Are you planning on proxy testing? That would be the easiest way to see if it's reliable enough for you.

Btw I forgot completely about Crowned Ceratok and Ulvenwald Tracker. Check those out.

I was thinking Ulvenwald Tracker haha. I must add him.

I would do Proxy testing. I find that I get a way to put counters on Gyre quite often from test draws...will have to see. Anything else you'd recommend?

ring of kalonia. gives trample (which in this deck is obsolete) and gives counters to green creatures. might want to look into vorel of the hull clade, death's presence for if one lambholt dies, and miming slime to be used on the champion. if lambholt dies, you'll still have a miming slime that's almost as powerful.

Pretty cool. There actually isn't a whole lot that I would change in this deck. However, I would like to bring certain cards to your attention. Savage Summoning would actually be exceptionally useful here because you really need Champion of Lambholt to not be countered. In addition to that Champion of Lambholt would come in with an additional +1/+1 counter! It also combos nicely with Nightshade Peddler and pretty much any creature your opponent didn't see coming. Hindervines could be nice. You know, just to mess with your opponent. I'm sure you've already seen Hunger of the Howlpack.

Why not add a Corpsejack???

The only reason he wouldn't is because he can't actually play any black cards. He has no swamps. However, Corpsejack may be worth putting in some swamps for.

Put some forest-swamps in, and maybe a guild gate.
Splash some black
for CorpseJack!

maybe a death peddler and a Ulvenwald Tracker , to put in 2 corpse jack. Predatory ooze is a great defender with out the death touch.

I wanted Savage Summoning but I ended up removing it. I took out Hunger of the Howlpack too... Corspejack would be nice I just wanted this to really be a monogreen. Lemme think it out haha.

That looks good. Don't forget Savage Summoning on your sideboard. Can't let those blue decks counter your Champion of Lambholt. ;-)
