Deck Description

So maybe you hoarded a bunch of commons / uncommons from Theros and maybe, just maybe, you found a use for them. Either that or you came to spend only $10 on a deck. Well you've come to the right place! This deck is only $10 and what you get is an aggressive azorius deck (despite it only having 14 creatures but it still works) that can beat someone / gain the main advantage around turn 5!

-1 Azorius Keyrune
+2 Azorius Charm

How to Play

First off, make sure you can draw good land. Azorius Guildgate(s) and another basic land, especially plains are good to lead off with because on turn 2 you can play a creature and then give it some boost on turn 3 whenever it's Battlewise Valor to give you more power and one of the many scry effects in the deck or Aqueous Form, which allows a creature not to be blocked as well as keeping your scrying a plenty.

Battlewise Hoplite, Favored Hoplite, and Phalanx Leader are all good creatures because their heroic ability can be useful. Phalanx Leader is amazing for an uncommon because it gives all your creatures +1/+1, so that's always a priority when you have a creature out. Cavalry Pegasus is also great support for the humans, but I only run 2 copies because you don't want to have multiples out since A. only 1 Cavalry Pegasus's effect will matter and B. You have the power and Aqueous Forms to already bring out evasion and safety.

The 8 enchantments aren't the only thing in this deck to make your heroic creatures stronger. You have 16 other cards that can be treated as combat tricks or boosts for your creatures. Dauntless Onslaught is absolutely amazing for this deck and is crucial that you have 4 because this card can give a total of +4/+4 to give to the power of your creatures as well as their heroic effect activating (which only means even more power!). Battlewise Valor is also good for the scry and Triton Tactics can be used as a very nice defensive trick for the deck.

Stymied Hopes is also pretty decent to have 4 of and to commonly draw early game because you can get a bit of an advantage from it since your opponent cannot really have another mana to spend in order to resist the counter. Fails or not, you still get to scry 1 (and you'll be doing that a lot with Battlewise Hoplite, Aqueous Form, and Battlewise Valor).

The sideboard is pretty self-explanitory. You have your glares to outright destroy Obzedat and other white threats, Gainsays to counter Mono-blue devotion, Gods Willing for any Mono-colored deck, and Voyage's End for creatures you don't like much.

So the overall goal of the deck is to go aggro with 2 or 3 creatures. You won't be ridiculously fast like Naya Blitz, but fast enough to pressure opponents with creatures that are most commonly going to be unblockable.

Don't forget to like and comment! :D

Deck discussion for Standard Budget:Azorius Heroes

wow man for the money this deck would SLAUGHTER at the standard tournaments i go to
might not be able to beat the better control decks ive played and lost hard against, but still for a sub $20 deck this would be pretty amazing

only thing is, and bear with me, i would swap out the keyrune and cluestone with azorius charms
theyre a touch more pricey, but so much more beneficial i think

again, great build!

Thanks for the comment! Yeah this deck could use some cards for the SB against control, and then again, azorius charm would be nice even as a 3 or 4 of for the draw and possible life-gain draw. I'll consider it with a most-likely change, so thank you. :)

Hidden Strings is also a great blue sorcery.

Oh yeah, now that you mention it I see a lot of flexibility in the card itself. You could tap some permanents your opponent controls or untap OR tap yours for Heroic to activate I see a lot in that card now and I'll have to recrommend it.

Glad I could help. It seems like it will become a staple in hero decks.
